이재명 대통령이 25일(현지시간) 귀국 전 튀르키예 현지 동포들을 만나 "여러분들이 나라를 걱정하는 게 아닌 대한민국이 여러분들의 든든한 지지자가 되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
이 대통령은 이날 튀르키예 공식 일정을 마치고 귀국 전 앙카라 시내 한 호텔에서 현지 동포·지상사 대표 오찬 간담회를 갖고 “대한민국과 특별한 관계인 튀르키예에서 동포 여러분들이 대한민국 얼굴이자 외교관으로 가교 역할을 하고 계신다”며 이같이 전했다.
김정호 튀르키예 한인회장은 “한·튀르키예는 70년 전 전장에서 서로를 지킨 특별한 형제의 나라로 이번 방문이 양국 협력의 새 전기를 마련하길 바란다”고 했다.
김익환 이스탄불공대 교수는 가상 공간 연구·지진 AI 분석 연구를 소개하며 “튀르키예의 뜨거운 우정·학생들의 강한 상상력·미래 기술을 향한 국가적 의지가 연구를 성장시키는 원동력”이라고 했다.
박달주 씨에스윈드 튀르키예 법인장은 ‘피로 맺은 형제’라 여겨지는 한·튀르키예 간 특별한 관계·한국 첨단 풍력 기술·K 컬쳐 등을 소개하며 한국인으로서 자부심을 느낀다고 했다.
