【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시새마을회(회장 박정원)가 26일 오전 경주시민운동장 앞 광장에서 ‘2025 사랑의 김장 담가주기’ 행사를 열고 지역 취약계층을 위한 김장 나눔 활동을 진행했다. 새마을회는 매년 겨울 김장 나눔 사업을 이어오고 있다.

이번 행사에는 한국수력원자력(주)이 김장 재료비 2천만 원을 후원했으며, 주낙영 경주시장과 이동협 경주시의회 의장, 남녀 새마을지도자 등 600여 명이 참여해 김치 양념 버무리기와 포장 작업을 함께했다.
이날 담근 김장김치 5,000여 포기는 각 읍·면·동 행정복지센터를 통해 차상위계층, 독거노인, 장애인가정 등 2,000여 가구와 지역 사회복지시설 50곳에 순차적으로 전달될 예정이다.
박정원 경주시새마을회장은 “정성껏 담근 김치가 겨울을 준비하는 이웃들에게 작은 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회 나눔 확산에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “추운 계절에 따뜻한 손을 보탠 새마을지도자들에게 감사한다”며 “지역 사회 배려와 연대의 문화가 이어지길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 경주시새마을회는 김장 나눔, 집수리 봉사, 밑반찬 지원, 환경정화 활동 등 다양한 사회공헌 사업을 진행하고 있다.

Approximately 600 people, including Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, Gyeongju City Council Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop, and Saemaul leaders, participated in the event, mixing the seasoning and packaging the kimchi.
The approximately 5,000 heads of kimchi made that day will be distributed sequentially to approximately 2,000 households, including low-income families, senior citizens living alone, and families with disabilities, as well as 50 local social welfare facilities, through administrative welfare centers in each town, township, and neighborhood.
Park Jeong-won, president of the Gyeongju City Saemaul Movement, said, "I hope this carefully prepared kimchi will be of some help to our neighbors preparing for winter. We will continue to lead the way in spreading community sharing."
Ju Nak-young, mayor of Gyeongju, said, "I am grateful to the Saemaul leaders who extended a warm hand during this cold season. I hope this culture of community care and solidarity will continue."
Meanwhile, the Gyeongju City Saemaul Movement is carrying out various social contribution projects, including kimchi sharing, home repair volunteer work, side dish support, and environmental cleanup activities.
