이재명 대통령이 27일 '2026 정부 예산안' 관련해 "법정 시한 내 예산이 처리되도록 여야의 초당적 협조를 당부드린다”고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 열린 제16차 수석보좌관회의에서 "현재 국회서 막바지 예산 심사가 진행 중'이라며 이같이 말했다.
국회법에 따르면 내년도 정부 예산안 심사 기한은 오는 30일, 법정 처리 시한은 오는 12월 2일까지다. 앞서 정부가 국회에 제출한 내년도 예산안은 역대 최대 규모 728조다.
그러면서 "야당들 주장 중 상당한 이유가 있을 시 과감히 채택하고 필요 요구들이 있으면 크게 문제되지 않는 한 상당 정도 수용해주는 것도 좋은 방법”이라며 "억지스런 삭감은 수용키 어렵겠으나 자세히 들여다보면 나름 합리성 있는 주장도 있을 것”이라고 했다.
또 "IMF 등 주요 국제 기관들이 정부 적극 재정 운용을 높이 평가하고 있으며 내년 성장률 전망도 이전 대비 대폭 상향 조정하는 기관들이 나온다”며 “민생 경제 회복을 가속화 하고 내년 대한민국 도약을 뒷받침하려면 예산의 적시 통과가 특히 중요하다”고 했다.
이어 "국제 질서가 점점 불안정해지고 자국 이기주의가 심해지면서 국가 간 대결 양상도 심각해지고 있다"며 "(중동) 국가 원수 대부분이 방위 산업·무기 체계에 매우 높은 관심을 보였으며 새 신무기 체계 도입·한국과의 방산 협력에 거의 예외 없이 관심을 표해왔다"고 전했다.
더불어 "국력을 키우는 게 정말 중요하다"며 "경제력도 있고 방위 산업 역량 포함 군사력도 외교 역량도 있을 것이나 모든 원칙은 국민들 단합된 힘"이라고 덧붙였다.
