【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)는 바이오제약공학과 소재선 교수가 글로벌 학술정보 분석기관 엘스비어(Elsevier)와 미국 스탠퍼드대학교가 공동 발표한 ‘2025 세계 상위 2% 연구자(World’s Top 2% Scientists)’ 명단에 포함됐다고 27일 밝혔다. 소재선 교수의 선정은 2023년부터 올해까지 3년 연속이다.

‘세계 상위 2% 연구자’ 명단은 엘스비어의 학술 데이터베이스인 Scopus를 기반으로 연구자의 학문적 영향력을 정량 분석해 발표하는 세계적 권위의 연구자 영향력 평가 지표다. 이번 분석은 스탠퍼드대학교 John P. A. Ioannidis 교수 연구팀이 개발한 복합평가지수(Composite Score) 를 활용해 진행됐으며, 논문 인용 수, H-지수, 공동저자 보정 인용지수 등 정량적 지표가 종합 반영되었다.
평가는 연구자의 전 생애 연구성과를 측정하는 Career-long 부문과 최근 1년간의 연구 영향력을 기준으로 평가하는 Single-year 부문으로 나뉘며, 소재선 교수는 두 기준 중 최근 연구성과를 기반으로 명단에 이름을 올렸다. 학교 측은 이는 해당 연구 분야에서 지속성뿐 아니라 최근 연구 성과 또한 국제적으로 인정받았다는 의미라고 설명했다.
소재선 교수는 면역 질환 치료제 개발 분야에서 활발한 연구 활동을 이어오고 있다. 특히 CD4+ T세포에서 사이토카인 발현을 조절하는 핵심 신호 경로 규명 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 이를 통해 자가면역·염증성 면역질환의 새로운 치료 전략 가능성을 제시하고 있다.
소 교수는 “이번 선정은 혼자 이룬 성과가 아니라 동료 연구자, 연구실 학생들과 함께 이뤄낸 결과”라며 “앞으로도 면역 반응 조절 기전을 밝히고 이를 기반으로 한 차세대 치료 플랫폼 연구에 집중하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
이어 그는 “국가의 바이오 산업 육성 정책과 연구 인프라 확충에 힘입어 연구 환경이 빠르게 발전하고 있는 만큼, 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 바이오제약공학과 학생들이 글로벌 연구 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 교육에도 최선을 다할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
