한국계 캐나다인인 제나 정 박사(글로벌외교관포럼, 한-인도 비즈니스문화진흥원(IKBCC) 이사장)가 한국과 인도의 중소기업 협력을 넘어선 '세계 중소기업 공동 성장'이라는 새로운 비전을 제시하며 주목받고 있다. 제나 정 박사는 지난 11월 26일 인도 뉴델리의 타지 팰러스 호텔에서 열린 NIRDC(국가산업개발위원회)의 ‘InDApp’ 출시 기념 행사에 특별 귀빈(Honoured Guest)으로 공식 초청되었다. 인도 정·재계 주요 인사와 각국 대사, 해외 기업 관계자 등 수많은 인파가 참석한 가운데, 인도 MSME(중소기업)의 글로벌 진출을 지원할 통합 디지털 플랫폼 ‘InDApp’이 이날 최초 공개되었다.
한국-인도 협력의 '디지털 전환점' InDApp
인도 MSME부 산하 핵심 파트너인 NIRDC는 인도 중소·중견기업의 국내외 성장을 지원하는 핵심 기관이다. 정 박사는 현재 NIRDC의 국제협력 디렉터와 IETO(인도경제무역협회) 한국 센터장으로도 활동하며 양국 간 경제 협력을 주도하고 있다.
이화여대와 토론토 대학교에서 국제통상 및 국제경제개발을 전공한 한국계 캐나다인인 제나 정 박사는, 한국적 정체성과 캐나다의 개방적 시각을 바탕으로 한국과 인도뿐 아니라 북미, 중동, 유럽 등 세계 중소기업을 연결하는 플랫폼 구축에 매진해왔다.
그녀는 "국가 간 경계가 아닌 세계 시장 전체를 바라보는 중소기업 협력 모델의 필요성"을 강조해왔으며, 이번 InDApp 출범이 그 비전의 구체화라는 평가를 받고 있다.

글로벌 수출 플랫폼으로의 확장 기대
이번에 공개된 InDApp은 ▲기업 정보 등록 ▲해외 바이어 직접 연결 ▲전자상거래 ▲국제 인증 안내 등을 통합한 온라인 비즈니스 플랫폼이다. 이는 인도 MSME가 직접 글로벌 시장에 진입할 수 있도록 설계되었으며, 향후 아시아 및 세계 여러 국가에서 사용될 수 있는 개방형 글로벌 수출 플랫폼으로 확장될 가능성이 높아 국제 비즈니스계의 큰 기대를 모으고 있다.
런칭식에서 제나 정 박사는 “한국과 인도의 협력은 이제 단순한 교류를 넘어 세계 중소기업을 하나의 생태계로 묶는 새로운 모델로 발전해야 한다”며, “민간 외교관으로서 쌓아온 글로벌 네트워크를 연결해 중소기업들이 국경을 넘어 새로운 기회를 찾도록 돕겠다”고 강조했다.
정 박사는 InDApp이 "한국–인도 중소기업의 디지털 동반 성장을 이끄는 첫 출발점이며, 앞으로 양국 기업의 시장 확장을 실질적으로 지원할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
글로벌 활동력, 세계 평화센터 건립 제안까지
정 박사가 이끄는 한-인도 비즈니스문화진흥원(IKBCC)은 지난 5월 인도 케랄라주 코치에서 인도 중앙부처 및 각국 대사관 후원 하에 인도 무역 박람회를 성공적으로 개최하며 중소기업의 역량 강화 및 해외 수출을 적극적으로 지원한 바 있다.
이번 InDApp 런칭 행사 관계자들은 제나 정 박사의 국제적 감각과 실행력이 "한국–인도 양국의 산업 협력을 한 단계 끌어올리고, 나아가 세계 중소기업 공동 성장에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다"고 높이 평가했다.
한국-인도 양국을 잇는 2천년 역사적 인연(허황후–김수로왕)을 재조명하고 이를 현대적으로 계승하고자 노력해온 정 박사는, 종교 간 경계를 초월한 한국의 홍익인간(弘益人間) 사상을 접목시켜 인류애 실현을 위한 세계인류평화센터(Global Peace Center For Humanity) 건립을 공식 제안하는 등 경제, 문화, 교육 전반에 걸친 민간 교류에도 앞장서고 있다.
한국과 인도, 나아가 미국, 캐나다, 중동, 유럽 시장을 잇는 제나 정 박사의 광범위한 국제적 활동이 향후 아시아 및 세계 중소기업 협력 지도를 여는 데 결정적인 역할을 하리라 주목된다.

Dr. Jenna Chung, a Korean-Canadian (Global Diplomat Forum, Chairperson of the Korea-India Business Culture Promotion Council (IKBCC),) is attracting attention for proposing a new vision for "joint growth of global SMEs," extending beyond SME cooperation between Korea and India. Dr. Chung was officially invited as an **Honored Guest** to the launch ceremony of the National Industrial Development Council (NIRDC)'s 'InDApp' held at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, India, on November 26th. A large crowd, including prominent figures from the Indian political and business communities, ambassadors from various countries, and representatives from international companies, attended the event. The **InDApp**, an integrated digital platform designed to support the global expansion of Indian MSMEs, was unveiled for the first time that day.
InDApp: A Digital Turning Point for Korea-India Cooperation
NIRDC, a key partner under the Indian Ministry of MSME, is a key organization supporting the domestic and international growth of Indian SMEs. Dr. Jeong currently serves as the Director of International Cooperation at NIRDC and the Director of the Korea Center of the Indian Economic and Trade Organization (IETO), spearheading economic cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Jenna Jeong, a Korean-Canadian who majored in International Trade and International Economic Development at Ewha Womans University and the University of Toronto, has dedicated herself to building a platform that connects SMEs not only with Korea and India but also with the world, including North America, the Middle East, and Europe, based on her Korean identity and Canadian perspective.
She has emphasized the need for a model for SME cooperation that focuses on the global market, not just national borders, and the launch of InDApp is considered the embodiment of this vision.
Expectations for Expansion into a Global Export Platform
The newly launched InDApp is an online business platform that integrates business information registration, direct connections with overseas buyers, e-commerce, and international certification information. Designed to enable Indian MSMEs to directly enter the global market, it is highly anticipated by the international business community that it will likely expand into an open global export platform that can be used in Asia and other countries around the world.
At the launch ceremony, Dr. Jenna Jeong stated, "Cooperation between Korea and India must now evolve beyond simple exchanges into a new model that unites global SMEs into a single ecosystem." She emphasized, "I will leverage the global network I have built as a private diplomat to help SMEs find new opportunities beyond their borders."
Dr. Jeong stated that the InDApp "is the first step toward fostering digital growth for Korean-Indian SMEs and will provide substantial support for the market expansion of companies from both countries."
Global Activity, Proposal for Establishing a World Peace Center
The Korea-India Business Culture Council (IKBCC), led by Dr. Jeong, successfully hosted an India trade fair in Kochi, Kerala, India, in May, under the auspices of the Indian central government and embassies of various countries, actively supporting the capacity building and export growth of SMEs. Officials at the InDApp launch event praised Dr. Jenna Jeong's international perspective and execution, saying she is "taking industrial cooperation between Korea and India to the next level and playing a crucial role in the shared growth of global SMEs."
Dr. Jeong, who has worked to shed light on the 2,000-year-old historical connection between Korea and India (Empress Heo and King Suro) and to preserve it in a modern context, has also spearheaded private exchanges across economic, cultural, and educational sectors, including officially proposing the establishment of a Global Peace Center for Humanity, which incorporates Korea's Hongik Ingan (弘益人間) philosophy, which transcends religious boundaries, to promote love for humanity.
Dr. Jeong's extensive international activities, bridging Korea and India, as well as the US, Canada, the Middle East, and Europe, are expected to play a crucial role in opening the future map of SME cooperation in Asia and the world.
