몰타에서는 예측하기 어려운 일이 참 많다.
이번 행사에서도 스피치를 하기로 했던 지휘자가 아무런 연락 없이 불참해 당황스러웠다.
그 이름이 인쇄물에 그대로 실려 있었던 터라 더 난감했다.
약속이 번번이 어겨지는 바람에 인쇄물을 여러 차례 수정해야 했고, 그에 따른 비용도 적지 않았다.
그럼에도 불구하고 오늘 행사에는 200명이 참석해 큰 성과를 거둘 수 있었다고 생각한다.
이런 행사는 누군가가 며칠 동안 고생하며 만들어내는 결과라는 점을 다시 한번 느끼게 되었다.
There are many unpredictable situations in Malta,
and this event was no exception.
The conductor who was scheduled to give a speech failed to attend
without any prior notice, which put us in a difficult position—especially
since his name had already been printed in the program.
Because promises were repeatedly broken,
we had to revise the printed materials several times, incurring additional costs.
Even so, about 200 people attended today’s event,
and I believe it was a significant success.
It reminded me once again that such events are only possible thanks to
to the days of hard work put in by the people behind the scenes.
マルタでは予想外のことが本当に多い。
今回のイベントでも、スピーチをする予定だった指揮者が連絡もなく欠席し、
とても困惑した。しかも、彼の名前はすでに印刷物に掲載されていたため、
なおさら厄介だった。約束が何度も破られたせいで、
印刷物を何度も作り直すことになり、費用も少なくなかった。
それでも、今日のイベントには約200名が来場し、
大きな成果を上げられたと思う。こうしたイベントは、
裏方の誰かが何日も苦労して作り上げているということを、改めて実感させられた。
