경기북부보훈지청이 제86회 순국선열의 날을 앞두고 독립유공자 유족들에게 정부 포상을 전수하며 독립운동가들의 희생과 헌신을 기렸다.
지청은 지난 11월 26일과 28일 양일간 故 유영곤 지사와 故 최태연 지사의 유족에게 각각 대통령표창을 전달했다.
이번 전수식은 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 선열들의 공적을 되새기고 유족들에게 합당한 예우를 전하기 위해 마련됐다.
11월 26일 진행된 첫 번째 전수식은 故 유영곤 지사의 자녀 자택에서 열렸다.

유 지사는 1932년 6월 전라남도 영암군에서 청년 70여 명과 함께 소작권 이동 등에 항의하는 시위를 주도하다 일제에 체포됐다.
일제강점기 농민 운동을 통해 독립운동에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 92년 만에 대통령표창이 추서됐다.
이틀 뒤인 28일에는 경기북부보훈지청 청사에서 故 최태연 지사에 대한 포상 전수식이 거행됐다.

최 지사는 1919년 8월부터 10월경 평안남도 안주군에서 대한민국임시정부원 곽상하의 지휘를 받아 독립신문을 반포하는 활동을 펼치다 체포됐다.
이날 포상은 당초 수령 예정이었던 손녀를 대신해 손자인 유족이 전달받았다.
박용주 경기북부보훈지청장은 "늦게나마 독립유공자의 유족에게 포상을 전할 수 있어 매우 뜻깊고 기쁘다"며 "젊은 날을 조국의 독립을 위해 희생하고 헌신하신 선열들의 숭고한 정신에 깊이 감사드린다"고 소회를 밝혔다.
국가보훈부는 앞으로도 아직 포상을 받지 못한 독립유공자를 적극 발굴하고, 그 후손들에게 정당한 예우를 전하는 데 노력을 기울일 방침이다.
또한 나라를 위해 헌신한 분들의 공적이 국민들에게 온전히 기억될 수 있도록 꾸준하고 체계적인 지원을 이어간다는 계획이다.

On November 26th and 28th, the office presented Presidential Citations to the families of the late Governor Yu Young-gon and the late Governor Choi Tae-yeon.
These awards were held to commemorate the achievements of these patriotic martyrs who dedicated themselves to the independence of our country and to ensure their families receive appropriate recognition.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to continue actively identifying independence activists who have yet to receive awards and strive to ensure their descendants receive the honor they deserve.
