신천지예수교회 성도 일동은 지난 12월4일 “신천지예수교회를 향한 근거 없는 비하와 정치적 이용을 즉각 중단하십시오.”라는 제목의 성명을 발표했다.

또한 “향후에도 사실과 다른 비방, 허위 주장, 종교를 향한 모욕·왜곡이 반복될 경우, 가능한 모든 절차를 통해 교회와 성도들의 권리가 침해되지 않도록 대응해 나갈 것입니다. 신천지예수교회는 앞으로도 신앙의 본질, 성경 교육, 지역사회 봉사와 평화 활동 등 공익적 역할에 더욱 헌신할 것이며, 대한민국의 모든 종교가 존중받고 차별 없이 공존하는 사회가 이루어지기를 희망합니다”고 덧붙였다.
