이재명 대통령이 8일 "우리 사회가 직면한 과제가 다양하나 그중 성장이 회복돼야 한다"고 주장했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 열린 지방시대위원회 보고회 모두 발언에서 "분권·균형 발전·자치 강화는 대한민국의 지속 성장을 위해 피할 수 없는 국가적 성장 전략"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "대한민국은 그간 수도권 1극 체제를 통해 성장 전략을 추진해 상당한 성과를 냈던 건 역사적 사실"이라며 "최근 수도권 집중이 지나치게 강화되면서 오히려 이제 성장 잠재력을 훼손하는 데 이르렀다"고 했다.
또 "대한민국이 앞으로 5극 3특의 다극 체제를 만들어 성장 동력을 새롭게 확보할 시점"이라며 "앞으로 준비된 정책을 잘 집행해 대한민국이 새롭게 지속 성장할 기회를 열어가길 바란다"고 했다.
5극 3특은 수도권·동남권·대경권·중부권·호남권 등 5대 초광역권과 제주·강원·전북 등 3대 특별자치도로 나눠 각 지역 특성에 맞게 추진하겠다는 맞춤형 성장 전략이다.
