전북 고창 무장읍성에서 출토된 '비격진천뢰'가 국가중요과학기술자료로 등록됐다.
고창군은 9일 무장읍성 군기고 유적에서 발굴된 '비격진천뢰'가 과학기술정보통신부 국립중앙과학관의 국가중요과학기술자료(제82호)로 최종 등록됐다고 밝혔다.
이번에 등록된 '비격진천뢰'는 2018년 무장읍성 군기고 발굴 조사에서 확인된 11점 가운데 하나다.
임진왜란 시기 개발된 '비격진천뢰'가운데 유일하게 구성원리를 알 수 있는 뚜껑까지 있는 완전한 형태로 발굴돼 구성원리를 명확하게 규명할 수 있는 유물로 학술 가치에 비상한 관심을 모았다.
특히 '비격진천뢰' 설계 및 제작 기법을 구체적으로 규명하는데 기여했고 기존 문헌과 유물의 한계를 넘어 연구의 새로운 가능성을 열었다.
조선 최초 시간지연 장치로 시한폭탄이라 불리며 살상력이 놓아 임진왜란 때 큰 역할을 했다.
고창군은 올 3월 '비격진천뢰'를 국립중앙과학관에 국가중요과학기술자료 등록을 신청했다.
