브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 동아제약은 충남 천안시 천안공장 부지 내에 ‘품질혁신센터’를 신설하고 준공식을 진행했다고 12일 밝혔다. 이번 시설 구축은 강화되는 규제 환경에 대응하고 품질 관리 체계를 고도화하기 위한 조치다.
품질혁신센터는 지상 5층, 연면적 약 4,820㎡ 규모로 조성됐다. 내부에는 GMP 기준을 반영한 시험시설과 신규 미생물실이 마련됐으며, 품질경영(QA), 품질관리(QC) 부서가 사용할 사무공간도 들어섰다. 임직원을 위한 카페, 식당, 체력단련실 등 복지공간도 포함됐다.
센터는 이화학·기기·미생물 시험실을 목적별로 분리하고, 공조 및 동선 체계를 GMP 기준에 맞춰 설계했다. 이를 통해 시험 데이터의 신뢰성과 완결성을 높이고, 기존 외부 위탁시험 과정에서 발생하던 적체 문제를 줄여 품질시험 리드타임을 단축할 수 있게 됐다.
또한 기존 생산시설과 식당을 분리해 GMP 관련 위험 요소를 제거했으며, 본동 공간을 확보해 향후 생산 및 품질 인프라 확장에도 여지를 마련했다. 천안공장을 동아제약과 동아ST가 공동 사용하면서 겪던 공간 부족 문제도 완화됐다는 설명이다.
동아제약은 이번 시설 구축이 제조 환경 변화와 강화되는 GMP 규정에 대응하는 기반이 될 것으로 보고 있다.
한편 천안공장은 2000년 제약업계 최초로 KGMP 인증을 받은 제조시설로, 물류 자동화 기반의 생산 체계를 갖추고 있다. 현재 박카스, 판피린, 베나치오 등 일반의약품과 동아ST의 전문의약품을 생산 중이다.
