화장실문화시민연대, 서울시민 뽑은 우수개방 화장실 21개 선정

화장실문화시민연대는 지난 12월11일 연대 사무실에서 2025 서울시 시민이 뽑은 우수개방 화장실 선정 심사위원회를 열었다.

화장실문화시민연대측은 이에 대해 “시민들에게 누구나 사용하기에 편리하고 이용자의 접근성이 좋은 개방화장실을 발굴하여 선정된 화장실에는 지속적인 관리를 유도하고 모범사례를 주변 화장실에 전파하여 서울시에 있는 개방 화장실의 관리건물 및 기관에 감사의 마음을 전하고자, 위 목적에 부합되는 화장실을 추천받고 찾아내어 모니터 요원들의 실태조사를 거쳐 올라온 42개소 개방화장실 중 개방 및 청결도 등을 심사하여 2025 시민이 뽑은 우수 개방 화장실을 선정하게 되었다”고 소개하고 “총 42개소 화장실 중 청결도나 시설은 조금 미흡하여도 많은 이용자가 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 접근성이 편리한 곳으로 시상을 하는 것이 좋겠다는 심사위원들의 의견에 따라 가능하면 시장이나 주유소 등의 장소가 선정 되어 총42개소 중 최종 21개소가 선정 됐다”고 알렸다.

심사위원들의 의견은 지정된 개방화장실에는 좀 더 많은 혜택을 주어야 할 것 같다는 의견들이 있었다. 또한 ▲화장실 개보수시(수리 시) 지원금 보상제도 ▲수도세 감면혜택 ▲정화조 처리비용 혜택 등등의 개방화장실의 혜택을 보장하면 좋겠다는 의견이 개진됐다.

The Citizens' Coalition for Toilet Culture Selects 21 Excellent Open Restrooms Voted by Seoul Citizens

The Citizens' Coalition for Toilet Culture held a review committee meeting for the 2025 Seoul Citizens' Choice Open Restrooms on December 11th at its office.

The Citizens' Coalition for Toilet Culture explained, "We sought to identify open restrooms that are convenient and accessible to all citizens. We encouraged ongoing maintenance of these restrooms and disseminate best practices to neighboring restrooms. This was a gesture of gratitude to the management buildings and institutions of open restrooms in Seoul. We solicited recommendations for restrooms that met these objectives, and monitors conducted an on-site inspection. Of the 42 restrooms, we evaluated them for openness and cleanliness, and selected the 2025 Citizens' Choice Open Restrooms." The committee continued, "The judges recommended awarding restrooms that offer convenient access to a wide range of users, even if they lack cleanliness or facilities. Therefore, we selected restrooms located in markets or gas stations, if possible." "The selection process included the selection of 21 sites out of a total of 42," the announcement said.

The judges agreed that designated open restrooms should receive more benefits. They also suggested guaranteeing benefits for open restrooms, such as subsidies for restroom renovations and repairs, water rate reductions, and septic tank treatment cost benefits.
