이날 행사에는 이재영 군수, 충북도·증평군의원, 기관·단체장, 충북 내 대학교 산학협력단 관계자 등이 참석해 센터 착공을 축하했다.
군은 이날 ‘100년 미래 뿌리 산업 양성’을 비전으로 제시하며, 증평 공공임대형 지식산업센터를 국내 최고 수준의 스타트업 육성 기반 센터로 발전시키겠다는 구상을 밝혔다.
증평 공공임대형 지식산업센터는 총사업비 276억 원을 투입해 2028년 12월 준공을 목표로 조성되며, 연면적 8675.42㎡, 지상 4층 규모로 건립될 예정이다.
센터에는 가변형 기업 입주공간 37개실을 비롯해 커뮤니티 라운지, 코워킹 공간, 대강당, 다양한 규모의 회의실 등 창업과 연구·협업에 최적화된 공간이 들어선다.
이를 통해 기업 간 교류와 협업을 촉진하는 개방형 혁신 플랫폼으로 기능하게 된다.
센터는 입주하게 될 기업의 연구·개발(R&D)과 사업화를 지원하고, 고부가가치 산업과 지역 특화 산업의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 핵심 거점으로 운영된다.
특히 에듀테크를 비롯한 차세대 기술 기반 스타트업 집적을 목표로 첨단장비 구축, POC(개념검증) 지원 인프라, AI 활용 지원 등에 대한 투자가 이뤄질 계획이다.
아울러, 충북 도내 대학들과의 연계를 통해 교육·기술 융합 산업 기반을 구축하고, 성장 가능성이 높은 스타트업과 초기·도약 단계 기업을 적극 유치해 증평형 스타트업 인큐베이팅 기반을 마련한다는 방침이다.
군은 주변 산업단지와 지역 인프라와의 연계를 강화하고, 유망 스타트업을 전략적으로 육성·유치해 청년 인재 유입과 양질의 일자리 창출, 지역 경제의 지속 가능한 성장으로 이어간다는 구상이다.
군 관계자는 “공공임대형 지식산업센터 건립을 통해 증평군이 첨단 산업과 기업의 중심지로 도약할 수 있는 기반을 마련할 것”이라며 “완공까지 차질 없이 지원해 지역 산업 기반을 확장하고, 경제 활성화와 균형 발전을 동시에 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
