이창호 한중교류촉진위원회 위원장은 지난 16일 오후 7시 서울 마포의 한 중식당에서 중국 허페이에서 방한한 선(宣) 씨 회장단을 만나 환담을 나눴다.

이번 만남은 보성 선씨 서울 종친회 선종복 회장의 초청으로 마련된 자리로, 혈연과 역사적 연원을 바탕으로 한중 민간 교류의 의미를 되새기는 계기가 됐다.

이 위원장은 이날 “먼 길을 마다하지 않고 한국을 찾아주신 선 씨 회장단을 직접 뵙게 되어 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 환영의 뜻을 전하고, “한중 관계의 지속 가능한 발전은 정부 차원을 넘어 민간의 신뢰와 교류에서 비롯된다”고 강조했다.

이 자리에서 이 위원장은 시진핑 중국 공산당 총서기의 국정 철학과 국가 비전을 조명한 저서 『시진핑, 위대한 중국을 품다』를 선물하며 상호 이해와 존중의 뜻을 전했다.
그는 “책을 통한 교류가 마음을 잇는 교류로 이어지길 바란다”며 인문과 사상을 매개로 한 소통의 중요성을 언급했다.
이 위원장은 또 “선 씨 가족이 앞으로 한국과 중국의 다양한 교류 활동에 함께함으로써 인적·문화적 소통의 폭과 깊이가 더욱 넓어질 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.

선종복 회장 역시 “민간 차원의 신뢰 축적이 한중 관계의 안정적 발전은 물론 동아시아의 평화와 번영, 나아가 지역 공동 발전의 든든한 토대가 될 것”이라고 화답했다.
