이번 협약은 산업안전보건법과 중대재해처벌법 시행 이후 기업 현장에서 요구되는 안전관리 수준이 대폭 강화됨에 따라, 포항TP 입주기업과 지역기업을 대상으로 보다 체계적이고 전문적인 안전관리 지원체계를 구축하기 위해 마련됐다. 양 기관은 긴밀한 협력을 통해 산업재해 예방과 안전한 근로환경 조성에 공동 대응해 나갈 방침이다.
특히 포항TP는 협약에 앞서 지난 12월 4일 국제표준 안전보건경영시스템인 ISO45001 인증을 취득하며 조직 전반에 걸친 체계적인 안전보건 관리체계를 구축했다. ISO45001은 사업장의 위험요인을 체계적으로 관리해 산업재해를 예방하고 근로자 안전을 확보하도록 규정한 국제 표준으로, 이번 인증을 통해 포항TP의 안전보건경영 공신력도 한층 강화됐다.
협약에 따라 양 기관은 ▲산업안전보건 관련 법령 이행 지원 ▲안전문화 확산을 위한 공동 캠페인 추진 ▲사업장 시설물 안전성 확보를 위한 점검 및 진단 ▲입주기업 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 안전관리 교육과 컨설팅 제공 등 다양한 분야에서 협력할 예정이다. 특히 기업 현장의 실제 수요를 반영한 실질적인 지원을 통해 안전관리 사각지대 해소에 주력할 계획이다.
아울러 협약의 실효성을 높이기 위해 실무협의체를 구성하고, 협력 과제에 대한 세부 실행 방안을 지속적으로 논의해 나가기로 했다. 이를 통해 단발성 협력에 그치지 않고 중·장기적 관점에서 지역 산업 전반의 안전관리 수준 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이번 업무협약을 계기로 포항TP 입주기업과 지역기업은 전문적인 안전교육과 점검, 컨설팅을 보다 용이하게 지원받을 수 있게 되며, 산업재해 예방은 물론 생산성 향상과 비용 절감 등 경영 전반의 긍정적 효과도 기대된다. 나아가 안전 중심의 기업문화 정착을 통해 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화에도 기여할 전망이다.
배영호 포항TP 원장은 “이번 협약은 산업안전 분야 전문기관과의 협력을 통해 입주기업과 지역기업의 안전관리 역량을 한 단계 끌어올리는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 기업 현장의 목소리를 반영한 맞춤형 지원으로 안전하고 지속 가능한 산업환경 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
