파주시가 금촌 도시재생 뉴딜사업의 일환으로 추진해온 주요 사업 3건을 올해 12월 말 성공적으로 마무리했다고 밝혔다.
완료된 사업은 금정로 가로환경개선사업, 안심주거환경 조성사업, 골목정원 조성사업으로, 모두 2021년 국토교통부 공모에 선정된 금촌 도시재생 뉴딜사업의 핵심 과제다.
금촌 도시재생 뉴딜사업은 2022년부터 2026년까지 진행되는 중장기 프로젝트로, 노후 주거지의 환경을 개선하고 지역경제를 활성화하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

금정로 가로환경개선사업은 금촌2동 제2지구 주택재개발정비사업과 연계해 시너지를 높였다.
시는 원활한 도로 배수를 위해 상가 측면에 엘(L)형 측구와 우수받이를 교체했으며, 차량과 보행자의 안전한 통행을 보장하기 위해 LED 가로등 교체, 도로표지병 설치, 아스팔트콘크리트 재포장 작업을 완료했다.
안심주거환경 조성사업과 골목정원 조성사업은 금정12길 및 13길 일원의 보차도 혼용 도로를 중심으로 진행됐다.
해당 구간에는 LED 가로등을 새로 설치하고 방범용 CCTV를 배치했다.
또한 아스팔트콘크리트 재포장과 도로 양측 고보조명 설치를 통해 안전하고 쾌적한 보행환경을 만들었다.
이를 통해 교통사고 예방은 물론 차량과 보행자의 통행 안전성이 크게 개선되는 효과를 거뒀다.

금촌 도시재생사업은 단순한 환경 개선을 넘어 지역 전체를 유기적으로 연결하는 성과를 보이고 있다.
골목과 전통시장 활성화를 비롯해 명동공원(DMZ 야생화 공원)과 골목정원, 주거지를 연계함으로써 쉼이 있는 주거지 가로환경을 확보했다.
특히 금촌어울림센터 내 DMZ 야생화 체험관과의 연계를 통해 외부 관광객이 증가하고 보행 만족도가 향상되는 등 시민 삶의 질 개선 효과도 나타나고 있다.

파주시 관계자는 "이번 사업을 통해 금촌1동 주민을 중심으로 파주시민 전체가 개선된 도로환경과 범죄 예방 효과를 체감하고, 골목상권 활성화에도 긍정적인 변화가 기대된다"고 말했다.
이어 "앞으로도 시민 중심의 도시환경 조성을 통해 더 큰 파주로 나아가겠다"고 덧붙였다.
파주시는 2026년까지 금촌 도시재생 뉴딜사업을 차질 없이 추진해 주거환경 개선과 지역경제 활성화를 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
