강민숙 시인(문학박사)이 2025년 12월 24일 한국프레스센터 국제회의장에서 제25회 올해를 빛낸 인물 대상(문화예술- 문예 부분)을 받았다.
이번 시상식은 연합매일신문사, 대한민국 인물&브랜드 대상 선정위원회가 주최하고 뉴스파일, 한국인물사연구원, (사)안견기념사업회, 유기농신문사가 주관했다. 이 상은 각 분야 별 전문위원과 교수, 기자단으로 구성된 심사위원단의 엄정한 심사 절차를 통해 선정됐다.
이날 시상식은 이영하 대회장의 기념사와 시상 순서로 진행되었으며, 사회는 이효진(청주MBC) 아나운서가 맡았다.

대회장 이영하 대회장은 “올해를 빛낸 인물 대상 시상식 행사를 통해서 한국 최고의 전문가를 만나 뵙게 된 것은 저를 포함한 여러분의 큰 영광입니다. 이는 서로 다른 향기를 지닌 꽃들이 한자리에서 조용히 피어나는 장면을 보는 듯 합니다. 각자의 사회 활동에서 묻어나는 지혜, 말끝에 스며있던 따뜻함이 오랫동안 기억될 한 편의 시가 되었으면 좋겠다는 바람과 함께 이 소중한 인연이 스쳐 지나가는 바람이 아니라 우리 모두의 미래를 밝히는 작은 등불로 머물기를 소망한다.”라고 인사말을 전했다.
2025년 문학과 사회 행보
강민숙 시인은 2025년 5월, 시집 『소년공 재명이가 부르는 노래』를 출간하여 사회의 큰 반향을 불러일으켰다. 시집 제목 아래에는 -아픔이 아픔에게 전하는 편지- 라는 부제가 붙어서 소년공 이재명의 아픔과 극복의 과정을 시로 육화했다. 이는 상처받은 사람들을 치유하고 희망을 주는 시라는 평가를 받았다.
시인은 1990년대 시집 『노을 속에 당신을 묻고』로 34만 부의 경이로운 판매를 기록한 베스트셀러 시인이기도 하다. 이를 인연으로 참솔어머니 회장으로 활동했고, 올해는 팬앤펜 문학단체를 이끌면서 전주와 금산에서 전국문학인 대회를 치러냈다.
지역 사회 활동으로, 부안군 동학농민혁명 운영위원회 부위원장, 부안군 지역 경제발전 특별위원회 위원으로 왕성한 사회 활동을 한 공적도 대상 수상의 영예를 안게 했다.

“이웃의 아픔을 돌아보고 치유하는 시를 쓰고파” (수상 소감)
강민숙 시인은 수상 소감에서 “지금까지 시작(詩作) 활동에서 그랬던 것처럼 내 아픔만 바라보기보다 이웃의 아픔을 돌아보고 많은 사람들에게 위로와 용기를 줄 수 있는 따뜻한 시를 쓰겠다”라고 포부를 밝혔다. 시인이 낸 시집들이 한결같이 소외된 자들의 아픔을 다루고 있다.
동학농민혁명의 시집 출간과 길 위에서 쓰는 여행시집 출간 계획
올해의 계획을 묻는 기자의 질문에 “그동안 발표해 온 동학농민혁명의 시를 한 권의 시집으로 출판하고, 여행잡지 『뚜루드몽드』에 수년 동안 연재해 온 세계 여행의 시를 시집으로 출간할 예정”이라고 했다.
강민숙 시인은 세계의 오지 여행을 해온 시인으로도 유명하다. 히말라야 안나푸르나, 에베르스트, 랑땅을 세 차례 트레킹했고, 이밖에 아프리카 킬리만자로, 뉴질랜드 밀포드트래킹, 차마고도 등 주로 여러 나라 오지를 걸으면서 그들의 삶이나 사유를 통한 성찰의 시를 써 왔다.
강 시인은 “지치고 힘들 때마다 오지 여행을 통해 위로와 안식과 평화를 느꼈고, 앞으로도 소소한 삶에서 위안을 찾는 길을 갈 것”이라며, 스스로 외롭고 고단한 길 위에 있기를 자처한다. 그동안 시인은 “시인의 예술기행”을 통해 신문과 문예지에 시와 산문을 꾸준히 발표해 왔다.
“시 쓰니까 청춘이다” 생활 시쓰기 지도
2026년의 새해 소망에 대해서는 “지금까지 아이클라 문예창작원에서 후학을 양성해 온 것처럼 운영하면서, 문화원과 도서관에서 성인을 대상으로 “시 쓰니까 청춘이다” 강좌를 통해 성인들이 시를 쉽게 쓸 수 있는 ‘생활의 시’를 지도해 나가겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.

“꾸준한 운동과 수면 시간 늘리는 것”이 소망
또 다른 포부에서 강 시인은 “2025년에 자신과 한 약속이 지켜지지 않아서 새해인 2026년도 약속이 같단다. “꾸준히 운동하면서 규칙적인 식생활을 만들어 가고, 수면 시간을 늘리는 것”이 약속인데, 아주 평범한 약속도 실천하지 못한다고 자책한다. 앞에서 밝힌 포부로 봐서는 올해도 지켜지지 않을 것 같았다. 이는 기자의 짐작이다. 지켜볼 일이다.

Poet Kang Min-sook (Ph.D. in Literature) received the 25th Person of the Year Award (Culture and Arts - Literature category) at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall on December 24, 2025.
The awards ceremony was hosted by the Yonhap Daily Newspaper and the Korea Person & Brand Awards Selection Committee and organized by Newsfile, the Korea Institute of Population History, the Ankyeon Memorial Foundation, and the Organic Newspaper. The award was selected through a rigorous judging process by a panel of experts, professors, and journalists from various fields.
The ceremony began with a commemorative address by President Lee Young-ha and the award presentation, and was moderated by announcer Lee Hyo-jin (Cheongju MBC).
Lee Young-ha, the president of the conference, said in his opening remarks, "It is a great honor for me and all of you to meet Korea's leading experts at this year's awards ceremony. It's like watching flowers with different fragrances quietly blooming together. I hope that the wisdom emanating from each person's social activities and the warmth permeating their words will become a poem that will be long remembered. I also hope that this precious connection will not be a passing breeze, but will remain as a small light illuminating our future together."
2025 Literature and Society
Poet Kang Min-sook published her poetry collection, "The Songs Sung by the Young Worker Jae-myeong," in May 2025, creating a sensation. The subtitle, "A Letter from Pain to Pain," embodies the young worker Lee Jae-myeong's pain and his journey of overcoming it. This poetry has been praised for its healing and hope for those who have been hurt.
The poet is also a best-selling poet, having sold an astonishing 340,000 copies of her 1990s poetry collection, "Burying You in the Sunset." This connection led her to serve as president of the Chamsol Mothers Association, and this year, she led the Fan & Pen literary group, hosting the National Literary Contest in Jeonju and Geumsan.
Her active social activities, including as vice-chairman of the Buan County Donghak Peasant Revolution Steering Committee and member of the Buan County Regional Economic Development Special Committee, also earned her the honor of receiving the Grand Prize.

"I want to write poetry that reflects on and heals the pain of my neighbors." (Acceptance Speech)
In her acceptance speech, poet Kang Min-sook expressed her aspiration, saying, "As I have done in my poetry career, rather than focusing solely on my own pain, I will reflect on the pain of my neighbors and write heartwarming poems that can bring comfort and courage to many." The poet's published poetry collections consistently address the pain of the marginalized.
Plans to Publish a Collection of Poems on the Donghak Peasant Revolution and a Collection of Travel Poems Written on the Road
When asked about her plans for this year, she stated, "I plan to publish a collection of poems on the Donghak Peasant Revolution that I've been publishing so far, and a collection of poems about my world travels that I've serialized for several years in the travel magazine Tour de Monde."
Poet Kang Min-sook is also renowned for her travels around the world. She has trekked Annapurna, Everest, and Langtang in the Himalayas three times, and has also written poems reflecting on the lives and thoughts of those who have walked in remote areas of the world, including Kilimanjaro in Africa, Milford Track in New Zealand, and the Chamagodo Mountains.
Poet Kang stated, "Whenever I feel tired and worn out, I have found solace, rest, and peace through my travels, and I will continue to seek solace in the simple things in life." She describes herself as a self-described, lonely, and arduous journey. The poet has consistently published poetry and prose in newspapers and literary magazines through "The Poet's Art Journey."
"Writing Poetry Makes Me Youth": Teaching Poetry for Everyday Life
Regarding her New Year's resolutions for 2026, she expressed her aspiration to "continue to operate as ICLAR Creative Writing Institute has nurtured young artists, and to offer "Writing Poetry Makes Me Youth" classes for adults at cultural centers and libraries to teach "poetry for everyday life" so that adults can easily write poetry.
"Exercise regularly and increase sleep"
In another aspiration, Poet Kang said, "Because I failed to keep the promise I made to myself in 2025, my new year's resolutions for 2026 are the same. My promise is to exercise regularly, maintain a regular diet, and increase sleep." She laments her inability to keep even the most mundane promises. Given her previously stated aspirations, it seems unlikely she will keep them this year either. This is the reporter's guess. We will have to wait and see.
