브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= LG유플러스는 나눔 문화 확산을 위해 9년째 이어온 임원 참여 사회공헌 기금의 누적 금액이 3억5000만원을 넘어섰다고 밝혔다.
해당 기금은 상무 이상 전 임원이 자발적으로 급여 일부를 공제해 조성하는 방식으로, 2017년부터 현재까지 약 600명이 참여했다. 올해는 홍범식 CEO를 포함한 임원 68명이 동참해 약 4000만원을 모았다.
그동안 모금된 기부금은 주거 취약계층의 주거 및 시설 환경 개선을 위한 ‘희망하우스’ 건립 사업 등에 활용됐으며, 지난해까지 총 17채가 완공됐다.
올해 조성된 기금은 소방청과 협력해 순직 소방관을 추모하는 ‘119 메모리얼데이’ 행사에 사용됐다. 해당 행사는 지난 11월 세종중앙공원 도시축제마당에서 열렸으며, 소방관들의 헌신과 희생을 기리기 위한 추모 러닝 페스티벌 형태로 진행됐다. 행사에는 약 2300명이 참여해 의미를 더했다.
LG유플러스는 이 외에도 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 지속적으로 전개하고 있다. 대표적으로 ▲임직원 급여 공제를 통한 나눔 활동 ‘천원의 사랑’ ▲저소득 장애가정 중학생의 자산 형성을 지원하는 ‘두드림 요술통장’ ▲경영진이 직접 참여하는 아동보호시설 정기 봉사활동 ▲임직원 경매 수익금으로 전국 맹학교에 ICT 도서관을 조성하는 ‘희망도서관’ 사업 등을 꾸준히 운영하고 있다.
