파주소방서가 대형판매시설의 화재 초기 대응 능력을 높이기 위한 특단의 조치에 나섰다.
파주소방서는 오는 12월부터 내년 2월까지 3개월간 문산홈플러스, 이마트 등 파주지역 대형판매시설을 대상으로 '옥내소화전 레드존 비워두기' 특수시책을 집중 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이번 시책은 파주소방서가 대형마트 현장 점검 과정에서 발견한 안전 사각지대를 해소하기 위해 자체적으로 기획했다.

쇼핑카트, 유모차, 진열대 등이 옥내소화전 앞을 가로막아 화재 발생 시 골든타임을 놓칠 수 있다는 위험성을 포착한 것이다.
특히 파주소방서는 옥내소화전이 벽체에 매립돼 있어 일반인은 물론 시설 종사자조차 정확한 위치를 파악하기 어렵다는 점에 주목했다.
