<브레이크뉴스 홍천= 김일웅 기자>홍천군은 2026년에 개최되는 ‘FIBA 3X3 홍천챌린저 2026’가 문화체육관광부 주관 ‘지자체 개최 국제경기대회 지원사업’ 공모에 3년 연속 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
‘지자체 개최 국제경기대회 지원사업’은 전국 지방자치단체에서 열리는 국제대회 가운데 경쟁력과 파급력이 높은 대회를 선정해 국비를 지원하는 사업으로, 올해는 전국 13개 시도에서 총 23개 대회가 선정됐다. 이 가운데 ‘FIBA 3X3 홍천챌린저 2026’는 2026년 지원 대상으로 최종 선정돼 국비 2억4천만 원을 확보했다.
신영재 홍천군수는 “FIBA 3X3 홍천챌린저 2026 대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 홍천군과 홍천군체육회, 한국3X3농구연맹이 긴밀히 협력하겠다”며 “지속적인 국제대회 유치를 통해 홍천군이 대한민국을 넘어 세계적인 3X3 농구 중심 도시로 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 ‘FIBA 3X3 홍천챌린저 2026’ 대회는 오는 9월 10일부터 4일간 개최될 예정으로, 총 14개국 140명의 선수단이 참가한다. 이와 함께 ‘2026 KXO 3X3 홍천 라이트퀘스트’, ‘2026 군인 3X3 홍천챌린저’ 등 다양한 부대행사도 함께 열려 더욱 풍성한 국제 스포츠 축제가 될 전망이다.
