【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주시는 2일 오전 7시 30분 황성공원 충혼탑에서 신년 참배를 열고 새해 공식 업무에 들어갔다.
경주시에 따르면 이날 행사에는 주낙영 경주시장을 비롯해 김석기 국회 외교통일위원장, 이동협 경주시의회 의장, 시·도의원, 기관·사회·보훈단체장과 언론사 대표 등 160여 명이 참석했다. 참배는 국민의례에 이어 분향과 묵념 순으로 엄숙하게 진행됐다.
이번 신년 참배는 병오년 새해를 맞아 순국선열과 호국영령의 희생정신을 기리고, 이를 바탕으로 경주시의 미래 발전 의지를 다지기 위해 마련됐다.
김석기 국회의원은 “2025년 APEC 정상회의의 성공적 개최는 경주시민 모두의 노력 덕분”이라며 “이를 계기로 경주가 세계도시로 도약하는 발판을 마련했다”고 밝혔다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “신년 참배를 통해 국가를 위해 헌신하신 분들의 뜻을 다시 한 번 되새겼다”며 “시민과 함께 더욱 발전하는 경주시를 만들기 위해 책임 있는 행정을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

The city of Gyeongju began its official New Year's work at the Memorial Tower in Hwangseong Park at 7:30 a.m. on the 2nd.
Approximately 160 people attended the service, including Mayor Joo Nak-young, local National Assembly member Kim Seok-gi, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, and Gyeongju City Council Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop, city and provincial council members, heads of organizations, social welfare organizations, veterans' organizations, and media representatives.

National Assemblyman Kim Seok-gi stated, "The successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit is the result of the combined efforts of all Gyeongju citizens. This has laid the foundation for Gyeongju to take another leap forward as a global city."
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “This New Year’s visit in the year of Byung-o has become a time to once again deeply remember the patriotic ancestors and spirits who sacrificed themselves for the country,” and emphasized, “I will continue to administer responsibly to create a Gyeongju City that develops further together with its citizens.”
