통영 월드 트라이애슬론컵 대회 국제경기대회 지원 공모사업 선정

[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 통영 월드 트라이애슬론컵 대회가 문화체육관광부에서 주관하는 2026년 지자체 개최 국제경기 대회 지원 공모사업에 최종 선정됐다.

이에 통영시는 국비 1억8천600만 원을 지원받게 됐다.

‘2026년 지자체 개최 국제경기대회 지원사업’은 전국 지자체에서 개최 예정인 국제경기대회 중 경쟁력 있는 우수한 대회를 선정, 대회 운영비를 지원해 국제대회 경쟁력을 강화하고 지역경제 활력을 제고하기 위해 추진되고 있다.

이번 공모사업 선정에서 통영 월드 트라이애슬론컵 대회는 대회의 역사성, 운영 역량, 그리고 지역 경제 파급효과 부문에서 높은 점수를 받았다.

2023년부터 2026년까지 4년 연속 공모 선정이라는 성과를 달성하며 대회가 일회성 행사가 아닌 지역 스포츠 산업의 지속 가능한 핵심 자산임을 다시 한번 입증했다.

통영시는 이번 국비 확보를 통해 시 재정 부담을 줄이는 동시에 올해 10월 개최 예정인 통영 월드 트라이애슬론 대회를 더욱 내실 있게 준비해 대회 경쟁력을 강화하고, 대회 기간 중 선수단과 가족, 관광객 방문으로 지역경제 활성화에도 기여할 수 있도록 만전을 기할 예정이다.
