파주시가 성매매집결지 폐쇄를 위한 '올빼미 활동'을 올해도 변함없이 이어간다.
지난 6일 강추위 속에서도 올해 첫 활동을 개시하며 집결지 완전 폐쇄를 향한 강력한 의지를 드러냈다.
시민과 공무원의 자발적 참여로 진행되는 올빼미 활동은 올해도 매주 화요일부터 토요일까지 매일 밤 심야시간대 성구매자 유입 차단을 위해 운영된다.

특히 올해는 파주경찰서 기동순찰대와 경기북부경찰청 기동대가 주야간 상시 순찰활동에 본격 합류하면서 민관 공조체제가 한층 강화됐다.
이를 통해 성구매자 유입을 사전에 차단하고 잔존 업소들의 영업 행위를 억제하는 한편, 집결지를 성평등하고 여성친화적인 공간으로 전환한다는 계획이다.
파주시는 지난달 16일 '성매매집결지 공간전환 비전선포식'을 통해 집결지 폐쇄 후 공간 활용 방안을 공식 발표한 바 있다.
시는 선언에 그치지 않고 현장 활동을 지속·강화해 공간 전환의 기반을 차근차근 다져나간다는 방침이다.
파주시 관계자는 "올빼미 활동은 성매매집결지 폐쇄라는 목표를 향해 시민과 공무원이 함께 만들어 온 역사"라며 "앞으로도 경찰 등 유관기관과 긴밀히 협력해 성매수 유입을 차단하고 성매매집결지 폐쇄를 완수하기 위해 지속적으로 힘을 모아 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
