고양특례시의회 김운남 의장이 킨텍스 지원부지 인근 원형육교 주변의 보행환경 개선을 위해 관계기관과의 협력에 나섰다.
김 의장은 9일 강기택 일산서부경찰서장과 면담을 갖고 대화동 킨텍스 지원부지 인근 원형육교 주변 보행환경 개선 방안에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.
이날 면담에서는 원형육교 인근 보행 동선과 관련해 주민들이 겪고 있는 불편 사항을 공유하고, 교통 안전과 보행 편의성을 동시에 고려한 개선 방안을 집중적으로 논의했다.

특히 킨텍스 일대 주거 인구 증가와 지난해 GTX 킨텍스역 개통 이후 급증한 보행 수요를 반영해 시민 보행 안전을 높일 수 있는 현실적인 개선 방안 마련에 초점을 맞췄다.
문제가 되고 있는 원형육교는 2005년 녹지축 연결을 목적으로 설치돼 공원 간 보행 기능을 담당해 왔다.
하지만 최근 킨텍스 지구 개발과 대규모 공동주택 단지 조성 등으로 주변 환경이 크게 변화하면서 현재의 보행 동선과의 적합성에 대한 재검토 필요성이 제기되고 있는 상황이다.
김운남 의장은 "도시 환경과 교통 여건이 변화하는 만큼, 시민의 보행 안전과 이동 편의성을 종합적으로 고려한 검토가 필요하다"며 "관계기관과의 지속적인 소통을 통해 주민 불편을 최소화할 수 있는 방안을 함께 모색해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
강기택 일산서부경찰서장은 "교통 안전을 최우선으로 고려해 현장 여건을 면밀히 검토하고, 관계 기관과 협의해 합리적인 개선 방안을 검토해 나가겠다"고 화답했다.
