브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 강호동 농협중앙회장이 13일 대국민 사과화 함께, 그동안 겸직했던 농민신문사 회장직과 농협재단 이사직에서 물러나겠다고 밝혔다.
지난 8일 농림축산식품부 특별감사에서 지적된 농협중앙회장의 과도한 혜택과 방만한 출장비 지출 등에 대한 후속 조치로 보인다.
강 회장은 이날 농협중앙회 본관에서 “국민과 농업인 여러분의 기대에 부응하지 못하고 심려를 끼쳐드린 점에 대해 책임을 통감하며 진심으로 사과드린다”며 “이번 사안을 단순한 위기 수습이 아닌 농협의 존재 이유와 역할을 바로 세우는 출발점으로 삼겠다”고 말했다.
이어 “국민 눈높이에 맞는 쇄신이 필요하다”며 “책임 있는 자세로 후속 절차에 성실히 임하고 뼈를 깎는 혁신을 통해 신뢰를 회복하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
특히, 강 회장은 관례에 따라 겸직하고 있는 농민신문사 회장직과 농협재단 이사장직에서 사퇴한다고 전했다.
앞서 특별감사에서는 강 회장이 농민신문사 회장을 겸임하며 농협중앙회에서 연간 3억9000만원의 실비·수당, 농민신문사에서는 연간 3억원이 넘는 연봉과 퇴직금(회장 4억2000만원), 농협중앙회에서 퇴직시 퇴직공로금(3억2300만원)도 수령한다며, 양쪽에서 받는 금액이 적정한지에 대해 타당성 및 집행실태를 검토할 계획이라고 발표했다.

강 회장은 “해외 출장 시 일일 숙박비 250달러를 초과해 집행된 비용은 이유 여하를 불문하고 송구스럽게 생각한다”며 “관련 비용은 전액 환입 조치하고, 앞으로 논란이 재발하지 않도록 제도와 절차를 전면 재정비하겠다”고 약속했다.
