지원 대상은 현행 원폭피해자법 제2조에 근거해 1945년 원자폭탄이 투하될 당시 일본 히로시마ㆍ나가사키 지역에 있던 사람 또는 투하 2주 내에 3.5km 이내에 있던 사람(당시 임신중인 태아 포함)으로 제한된다.
도내 지원 대상은 신청일 기준으로 전북특별자치도에 주민등록상 주소지를 두고 있는 원폭피해자 1세대 13명(전주 4명ㆍ군산 3명ㆍ익산 2명ㆍ정읍 1명ㆍ남원 1명ㆍ김제 1명ㆍ장수 1명)이다.
