【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=(재)포항시장학회와 귀뚜라미그룹은 16일 포항시청소년재단 꿈트리센터에서 ‘귀뚜라미 장학금 및 장학증서 수여식’을 개최했다고 포항시가 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 이강덕 (재)포항시장학회 이사장을 비롯해 귀뚜라미그룹 최진민 회장, 장학생과 학부모 등 140여 명이 참석했다.
이번 장학사업을 통해 선발된 장학생은 총 84명으로, 고등학생 68명과 대학생 16명이다. 귀뚜라미문화재단이 지원한 장학금 1억 원은 포항시장학회의 심사를 거쳐 지급됐으며, 고등학생에게는 1인당 100만 원, 대학생에게는 200만 원이 각각 전달됐다.
행사는 귀뚜라미그룹 홍보영상 상영을 시작으로 장학금 및 장학증서 수여, 감사패 전달 순으로 진행됐다.
귀뚜라미문화재단은 귀뚜라미보일러 설립자인 최진민 회장이 사재를 출연해 1985년 설립한 재단으로, 현재까지 약 7만 명의 학생에게 누적 550억 원 규모의 장학금을 지원해 왔다. 재단은 2025년에도 전국 42개 지방자치단체와 협력해 약 2,700명의 학생에게 총 26억 원의 장학금을 지원할 계획이다.
이강덕 이사장은 “귀뚜라미문화재단의 지속적인 지원에 감사드린다”며 “장학생들이 학업에 정진해 지역과 사회에 기여하는 인재로 성장하길 바란다”고 말했다.

Pohang City Scholarship Association and Kiturami Group Award 100 Million KRW in Scholarships to 84 Students
Pohang City announced that the Pohang City Scholarship Association and Kiturami Group held the "Kiturami Scholarship and Certificate Award Ceremony" at the Pohang Youth Foundation's Dream Tree Center on the 16th.

A total of 84 students were selected through this scholarship program: 68 high school students and 16 college students. The 100 million KRW in scholarships, provided by the Kiturami Cultural Foundation, were awarded after review by the Pohang City Scholarship Association. Each high school student received 1 million KRW and each college student received 2 million KRW.
The event began with a screening of a promotional video for the Cricket Group, followed by the presentation of scholarships and certificates, and a plaque of appreciation.
The Cricket Cultural Foundation was established in 1985 with personal funds from Chairman Choi Jin-min, founder of Cricket Boiler. To date, it has provided a cumulative 55 billion won in scholarships to approximately 70,000 students. By 2025, the foundation plans to collaborate with 42 local governments nationwide to provide a total of 2.6 billion won in scholarships to approximately 2,700 students.
Chairman Lee Kang-deok said, "I am grateful for the continued support of the Cricket Cultural Foundation. I hope the scholarship recipients will dedicate themselves to their studies and grow into talented individuals who contribute to their communities and society."
