[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 2026년부터 플라스틱, 금속 등 재활용이 가능한 장난감의 분리배출제도를 본격 시행한다고 19일 밝혔다.
그동안 장난감은 다양한 재질이 혼합돼 있고 분해가 어렵다는 이유로 대부분 종량제봉투에 배출돼 소각·매립 처리해 왔다.
이에 김해시는 장난감으로 인한 폐기물 발생을 줄이고 자원 재활용률을 높이기 위해 체계적인 장난감 분리배출제도를 시행한다.
특히 플라스틱 장난감은 선별·재활용 과정을 거쳐 재생원료로 활용될 예정으로, 자원순환 체계 구축과 플라스틱 폐기물 감축에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
분리배출 방법은 일반 플라스틱 완구의 경우 기존 플라스틱류와 동일하게 배출하면 되며, 전기·전자 부품이 포함된 완구는 소형가전 전용 수거함을 이용해야 한다.
김해시는 제도의 안정적인 정착을 위해 분리배출 기준 안내 홍보물을 제작·배포하고, 공동주택·어린이집·유치원 등을 대상으로 홍보와 교육을 실시할 계획이다. 아울러 자원순환해설사와 연계한 시민 대상 교육도 단계적으로 추진한다.
이용규 자원순환과장은 “장난감 분리배출은 생활 속 자원순환을 실천하는 작은 변화이지만, 플라스틱 감축과 탄소중립 실현에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며 “시민 여러분의 적극적인 참여를 바란다”고 말했다.
