(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=광주시립수목원이 국내 유일의 난대수목원인 완도수목원과 손잡고 식물의 아름다움을 예술적으로 재해석한 특별한 전시를 선보인다.
광주광역시 수목원·정원사업소는 오는 1월 20일부터 3월 1일까지 광주시립수목원 방문자센터에서 ‘봄을 품은 투명한 겨울’을 주제로 식물 표본 전시회를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 전시는 광주시립수목원이 최근 ‘광주시 제1호 공립수목원’으로 정식 등록된 것을 기념하기 위해 마련됐다. 광주시립수목원이 기획을 맡고, 전라남도 완도수목원이 직접 채집하고 제작한 수준 높은 식물 표본을 제공하며 지자체 간 협업의 의미를 더했다.
전시회에서는 ▲산딸나무 등 수목류 20점 ▲꽃향유 등 초화류 16점 등 총 36점의 식물 표본이 관람객을 맞이한다.
특히 이번 전시에 선보이는 표본들은 일반적인 건조 표본과 달리 솔리디움(Solidium) 및 레진(Resin) 공예라는 특수 보존 기법이 사용됐다. 이 기법은 식물의 꽃과 잎 구조를 생생하게 유지하면서 장기간 보존할 수 있는 것이 특징이다.
관람객들은 투명한 액자 속에 박제된 식물을 통해 자연의 순환을 시각적으로 체험하고, 식물 표본이 가진 기록적 가치와 예술적 아름다움을 동시에 느낄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
전시 기간 중 어린이 동반 가족을 위한 교육 프로그램도 함께 운영된다. 1월 20일부터 2월 13일까지 6~10세 자녀를 둔 가족을 대상으로 ▲흔적으로 찾는 야생동물 ▲나만의 다육이 정원 만들기 ▲똑똑한 로제트 ▲겨울나무로 전하는 마음 등 4가지 겨울방학 특별 프로그램이 진행된다.
김희석 수목원·정원사업소장은 “광주시 제1호 공립수목원 등록을 기념해 시민들에게 식물의 다양성과 가치를 알리고자 이번 전시를 기획했다”며 “많은 시민이 수목원을 찾아 겨울 속에서 봄의 온기를 느끼고, 수목 유전자원의 소중함을 되새기는 시간을 갖길 바란다”고 전했다.
한편, 전시회는 수목원 휴관일인 월요일을 제외하고 매일 오전 9시부터 오후 5시까지 무료로 관람할 수 있다.
