브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 대통령이 일부 공공기관을 겨냥해 강도 높은 개혁 의지를 드러냈다. 대통령 지적 이후에도 개선되지 않는 태도에 대해 제재 가능성을 언급하며 공공기관 기강 확립을 재차 강조했다.
이 대통령은 20일 청와대에서 열린 국무회의에서 “대통령이 지적했는데도 여전히 장관이 다시 보고받을 때 똑같은 태도를 보이는 곳이 있더라. 이런 데는 할 수 있는 제재를 좀 하도록 하라”고 지시했다.
이어 “공공기관이 정부보다 집행예산이 많다는 것 아니냐. 그런데 그렇게 하면 안 된다”며 “정신 차리고 잘해야 한다. 공공기관 문제는 관심을 갖고 계속 보겠다”고 경고했다. 그러면서 “어디라고 말은 안 하겠지만, 좀 엄히 훈계해야 한다”고 거듭 강조했다.
이 대통령은 6개월 후 예정된 업무보고와 관련해서도 강도 높은 점검을 예고했다. 그는 “산하기관, 유관기관도 마찬가지로 이번처럼 내용을 살펴보는 정도가 아니라 제대로 하고 있는지 확인해서 문책할 것”이라며 “기존 문제를 방치하거나, 개선할 수 있는데 하지 않거나, 좋은 제안을 묵살하는 부분을 집중적으로 챙겨보겠다”고 밝혔다.
업무보고 방식도 손질하겠다는 방침을 내놨다. 이 대통령은 “부처에서 산하 공공기관 업무보고를 받고 있는데 이번에는 순서를 바꿔서 각 부·처·청이 먼저 받고 그다음에 업무보고를 함께 받는 것으로 하겠다”며 “그동안 지적사항이나 시정을 어떻게 했는지 정리하고, 어떤 성과를 냈는지, 현재 계류된 현안은 무엇인지 일목요연하게, 뻔한 건 빼고 보고받을 수 있게 준비해 달라”고 지시했다.
한편 이날 회의에서는 공직 기강 문제도 언급됐다. 이 대통령은 조현 외교부 장관이 재외공관 주재관의 비위 문제를 보고하자, 본인 취임 이후 발생한 사안인지 확인한 뒤 “장관님도 혼자 꿀꺽 삼키고 넘어가면 어떡하느냐. 공직 기강에 관한 문제인데”라며 주의를 주기도 했다.
이 대통령의 이날 발언은 공공기관 전반에 대한 관리·감독을 한층 강화하고, 성과 중심의 책임 행정을 본격화하겠다는 의지를 분명히 한 것으로 해석된다.

President Lee Jae-myung has expressed his strong commitment to reforming certain public institutions. He reiterated his commitment to establishing discipline in public institutions, mentioning the possibility of sanctions for attitudes that remain unchanged even after the president's criticism.
During a Cabinet meeting held at the Blue House on the 20th, President Lee stated, "Even after the president pointed out the issues, there are still some institutions that show the same attitude when the minister receives a report again." He added, "In these cases, we should impose sanctions wherever possible."
He continued, "Public institutions have larger budgets than the central government, but that shouldn't be the case. They need to come to their senses and do better. I will continue to pay close attention to public institution issues." He reiterated, "I won't name specific ones, but they need to be given some stern reprimands."
President Lee also announced a rigorous inspection of the business reports scheduled for six months. He stated, "We will also hold affiliated organizations and related agencies accountable by ensuring they are properly implementing their duties, rather than simply reviewing the details as we did this time." He added, "We will focus on areas where existing problems are being neglected, improvements are not made when possible, or good suggestions are ignored."
He also announced plans to revise the work reporting process. President Lee stated, "Ministries currently receive work reports from their public institutions, but this time, we will reverse the order so that each ministry, agency, and agency receives their work reports first, followed by the work reports together." He instructed, "Prepare to receive reports that clearly outline any issues raised or how they have been addressed, what achievements have been made, and what pending issues are currently being addressed, without the obvious."
Meanwhile, the issue of public service discipline was also discussed at the meeting. When Foreign Minister Cho Hyun reported the misconduct of overseas diplomatic missions, President Lee confirmed whether the incident occurred after he took office and then cautioned, "Minister, what if you swallow it all by yourself? This is a matter of public service discipline."
President Lee's remarks are interpreted as a clear declaration of his intention to further strengthen management and oversight of all public institutions and to fully implement performance-based, accountable administration.
