Dongducheon Orbit Library Hosts Traditional Games Festival to Celebrate Seollal
Experience-based programs for Seollal, ranging from picture book reading to traditional games
[Break News Yangju=Kim Wan-young] The Dongducheon City Library and Culture Center (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) in Gyeonggi Province will host the "Traditional Games Experience Program for Seollal" at Orbit Library on February 4th for families with young children and young adolescents.
Applications for the program are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Dongducheon City Library website, and the application period runs from January 22nd to February 1st.
This program is designed to foster intergenerational communication and foster a natural understanding of the meaning of Seollal and traditional culture. The program will feature a variety of hands-on activities, including free reading of Seollal-related picture books, making and playing Yutnori and Tongtongnori using craft kits, and playing Tuho with a traditional game instructor.
The director of the Dongducheon City Library and Cultural Center said, "In celebration of Seollal, Korea's biggest holiday, we've prepared a program for children and youth to enjoy traditional culture through play. We hope families will participate together and create meaningful holiday memories."
