【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=모성은 포항시장 출마예정자(포항지진범대본 의장·경제학 박사)는 22일 오전 포항시청 브리핑룸에서 기자회견을 열고, 여섯 번째 핵심공약으로 ‘무탄소 에너지·환경도시’ 비전을 발표했다.
이번 공약은 시군 통합 대도시, AI·Port 기업도시, 광역전철-BRT 환승체계, 글로벌 복지·포용도시, 극동 해양·문화도시에 이은 6차 공약이다.
모 박사는 AI 데이터센터 등 미래산업 유치에 따른 전력 수요 증가에 대응하기 위해 순환형 무탄소 에너지 체계 도입을 제시했다. AI 데이터센터 전력은 친환경 에너지로 공급하고, 냉각 에너지는 LNG 초저온 냉열을 재활용하는 방식을 표준 모델로 삼겠다고 밝혔다.
또 최근 지정된 포항시 분산에너지 특구와 연계해 그린암모니아 기반 무탄소 에너지 사업을 추진하고, AI·데이터센터 등 초고전력 산업을 위한 안정적 전력 공급 기반을 구축하겠다고 했다.
해상풍력발전단지 조기 조성과 함께 시민 참여형 이익공유제인 ‘포항시 해풍연금’ 도입도 공약했다. 시민에너지 펀드를 조성하고 발전 수익을 시민과 공유하겠다는 구상이다.
이와 함께 LNG 냉열을 활용한 초저온 물류단지를 조성해 농수산물·바이오 산업 경쟁력을 강화하겠다고 밝혔다.
환경 분야에서는 대기오염 예보를 강화하고, 포항지역 모든 산업단지를 스마트그린산단 수준의 친환경공단으로 전환하겠다고 밝혔다. 하수 재이용 확대와 항사댐 건설 등을 통해 산업·농업용수 부족 문제도 해결하겠다고 덧붙였다.
기업 유치와 관련해서는 신광면 연고기업인 코오롱그룹, 청하면 연고기업인 태광그룹의 친환경·신소재 기업 유치를 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
모 박사는 “무탄소 에너지·환경도시는 기후위기 대응을 넘어 포항의 미래 산업 경쟁력을 뒷받침하는 핵심 전략”이라고 말했다.
한편 시군 통합 대도시 공약과 관련해 “대구·경북 행정통합은 시대적 흐름으로, 현실적으로 검토가 필요하다”고 밝혔다.
