경북웹툰캠퍼스는 지난해 구미, 안동, 영천, 청도, 봉화 등 도내 주요 지역의 역사와 인물, 관광자원을 소재로 한 브랜드웹툰을 제작했다. 해당 콘텐츠들은 지역 고유의 이야기를 친숙한 웹툰 형식으로 풀어내며 주민과 관광객 모두에게 지역을 새롭게 인식하는 계기를 제공했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
특히 웹툰을 매개로 지역 문화가 자연스럽게 확산되면서, 지역 기반 콘텐츠의 경쟁력을 높이고 문화콘텐츠 산업으로의 확장 가능성을 키웠다는 점에서 주목을 받았다.
캠퍼스는 웹툰 인재 양성에도 힘을 기울였다. 지역 기반형 웹툰작가 양성 프로그램을 운영하며 예비·신진 작가들의 창작 역량 강화를 체계적으로 지원하는 한편, 이현세 작가, 주동근 작가, 장철수 감독 등 웹툰·영상 분야를 대표하는 인사들을 초청해 특강을 진행하며 현장의 생생한 경험과 노하우를 공유하는 기회를 마련했다.
지역민과 함께하는 웹툰 문화 확산 활동도 이어졌다. 경주 APEC 정상회담 개최로 관광객이 증가한 시기에 맞춰 경주 황리단길에서 사업 성과 전시를 진행하고, 로컬브랜드 페어에 참여하는 등 다양한 대외 홍보 활동을 통해 웹툰 콘텐츠 접근성을 높이며 캠퍼스의 역할을 널리 알렸다.
이 같은 성과를 바탕으로 경북웹툰캠퍼스는 2026년에도 지역 웹툰산업 발전을 위한 노력을 지속한다. 연초부터 안동시와 구미시를 시작으로 ‘찾아가는 웹툰스쿨’을 운영해 경북 지역 초·중·고등학교는 물론 아동·청소년센터, 복지관 등 문화콘텐츠 접근이 어려운 현장을 직접 찾아갈 예정이다. 이를 통해 웹툰 창작 인재를 조기에 발굴하고, 지역민 누구나 웹툰 문화를 향유할 수 있는 기반을 마련한다는 계획이다.
이종수 진흥원장은 “새해에도 웹툰캠퍼스는 붉은 말처럼 힘차게 달리며 지역 문화콘텐츠 산업의 성장과 도민 문화 향유 확대를 위해 쉼 없이 나아가겠다”며 “앞으로도 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
한편 경북웹툰캠퍼스는 앞으로도 웹툰을 매개로 지역과 콘텐츠, 사람을 잇는 거점 역할을 수행하며 지역 문화콘텐츠 생태계 조성에 지속적으로 힘쓸 방침이다.

These content, presented in a familiar webtoon format, has been praised for providing both residents and tourists with a fresh perspective on the region.
Notably, the natural diffusion of local culture through webtoons has garnered attention, enhancing the competitiveness of local content and fostering its potential for expansion into the cultural content industry.
The campus has also focused on fostering webtoon talent. By operating a regional webtoon artist training program, the campus systematically supports the creative capacity building of aspiring and emerging artists. Furthermore, leading figures in the webtoon and video industries, such as Lee Hyun-se, Joo Dong-geun, and Director Jang Cheol-soo, were invited to give special lectures, providing opportunities to share their experiences and expertise.
Activities to promote webtoon culture with local residents continued. In conjunction with the increased tourist arrivals from the Gyeongju APEC Summit, the campus held an exhibition of project results on Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju and participated in local brand fairs. Through various external promotional activities, the campus increased accessibility to webtoon content and broadened the campus's role.
Building on these achievements, the Gyeongbuk Webtoon Campus will continue its efforts to develop the local webtoon industry in 2026. Beginning in Andong and Gumi, the campus will operate a "Visiting Webtoon School" program, which will visit elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeongbuk, as well as children's and youth centers and welfare centers, to address areas with limited access to cultural content. Through this, the plan is to discover talented webtoon creators early and establish a foundation for all local residents to enjoy webtoon culture.
Director Lee Jong-soo of the Gyeongbuk Webtoon Campus Promotion Agency stated, "In the new year, the Webtoon Campus will continue to run vigorously like a red horse, tirelessly advancing to foster the growth of the local cultural content industry and expand cultural enjoyment among residents of Gyeongbuk Province." He added, "We ask for your continued interest and support."
Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Webtoon Campus plans to continue its commitment to fostering a regional cultural content ecosystem by serving as a hub connecting the region, content, and people through webtoons.
