26일 원주시에 따르면, 시는 오는 27일 오후 2시 30분 원주미래산업진흥원 1층에서 ㈜이솔 및 관내 4개 대학(강릉원주대, 상지대, 연세대, 한라대) 산학협력단과 함께 ‘EUV 방사광가속기 공동협력 MOU’를 체결한다. 이번 협약은 산·학·연이 통합된 ‘첨단산업 협력 거버넌스’를 통해 국가 반도체 전략과 연계된 성장 거점을 마련하기 위한 조치다.
거버넌스의 핵심인 ㈜이솔은 독보적인 EUV 광원 기술력을 바탕으로 코스닥 기술특례상장을 준비 중인 유망 기업이다. ㈜이솔은 2029년까지 원주 부론일반산업단지에 약 500억 원을 투자해 EUV 방사광가속기를 구축할 계획이다.
EUV 방사광가속기는 반도체 초미세공정과 바이오 분석 등에 필수적인 핵심 인프라로, 구축 시 원주는 중부권 최초의 첨단 연구 거점이자 국가 반도체·바이오 연구의 허브 역할을 수행하게 된다.
원주시는 이번 협력을 통해 전문 인력 양성과 R&D 활성화를 도모하고, 미래차 전장부품 검증센터 등 기존 인프라와 연계해 미래형 첨단 도시인 ‘센서 시티(Sensor City)’로 거듭나겠다는 전략이다.
