[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 26일 오후 시청 접견실에서 ‘부산·경남 행정통합 공론화위원회’로부터 최종 의견서를 전달받았다고 밝혔다.
공론화위원회는 부산과 경남의 시·도민 대표 및 전문가 등 30명으로 구성돼 지난 2024년 11월 출범했다. 위원회는 행정통합의 필요성과 지역 균형발전 전략을 논의하기 위해 14회의 회의와 8회의 권역별 토론회, 21회의 주민설명회를 개최하며 시민 의견을 수렴해 왔다. 그 결과를 토대로 여론조사를 실시하고, 이번 최종 의견서를 마련해 제출하면서 1년 3개월여의 활동을 마무리했다.
위원회는 지난 1월 13일 회의에서 행정통합 추진이 필요하다는 의견을 제시하고, 주민투표를 통해 시·도민의 의사를 직접 확인해야 한다고 공식 제안한 바 있다. 최종 의견서에는 공론화 추진 과정과 여론조사 결과, 종합 결론 등이 담겼다.
부산시는 주민의 명확한 의사 반영 없는 통합은 불필요한 지역 갈등과 후유증을 초래할 수 있다며, ‘상향식 행정통합’ 원칙을 확고히 지켜나가겠다는 입장이다.
박형준 시장은 “전례 없는 광역자치단체 통합 논의를 통해 미래 비전과 청사진을 모색해온 과정은 지역 발전에 의미 있는 발자취로 남을 것”이라며 위원회의 노고를 격려했다. 이어 “최종 의견서를 면밀히 검토해 수도권 집중 완화와 지방 소멸 위기 극복을 위한 통합 지방정부의 방향을 함께 모색하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that it received the final report from the Busan-Gyeongnam Administrative Integration Public Deliberation Committee at the City Hall reception room at 2 p.m. on January 26.
The committee, launched in November 2024, consists of 30 representatives of the citizens and experts from both Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. Over the past year, the committee has held 14 meetings, eight regional forums, and 21 community briefings to gather public opinions and discuss the necessity and strategies for regional administrative integration. Based on public surveys, the committee prepared and submitted its final report, concluding its 15-month activity.
On January 13, the committee officially suggested that administrative integration should proceed and proposed a resident referendum to directly confirm public opinion. The final report summarizes the entire process of public engagement, survey results, and comprehensive conclusions.
