청와대가 27일 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 한국에 대한 상호관세 25% 부가 유지 발표 관련해 "정부는 관세 합의 이행 의지를 미 측에 전달하고, 차분히 대응해나갈 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
강유정 대변인은 이날 오전 열린 대미 통상 현안 회의 관련 오후 서면 브리핑을 통해 "관세 인상은 (미국) 연방 관보 게재 등 행정 조치가 있어야 발효된다"며 이같이 전했다.
회의엔 여한구 통상본부장·이형일 재정경제부 제1차관·김진아 외교부 제2차관·청와대 하준경 경제성장수석·오현주 국가안보실 제3차장·하정우 AI미래기획수석 등 정부 및 청와대 관련 참모들이 참석했다.
또 전략경제협력 특사단으로 현재 캐나다에 머물고 있는 강훈식 대통령 비서실장·김정관 산업통상부 장관도 유선으로 회의에 참석했다.
회의는 김용범 정책실장·위성락 국가안보실장이 주재했으며 관세 협상 후속 조치로 추진되는 '한·미 전략적 투자 관리를 위한 특별법안' 진행 상황 등에 대한 점검이 이뤄진 가운데 한·미 간 긴밀한 소통을 위해 정부 관계자들이 미국에 가기로 했다.
먼저 김 장관이 현 캐나다 일정을 마친 후 방미해 하워드 러트닉 상무장관과 관련 내용을 논의하고, 여 본부장 역시 조만간 방미해 제이미슨 그리어 미 무역대표부(USTR) 대표와 협의를 진행 예정이다.
