【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=김순견 전 경북도 경제부지사가 ‘포항 대전환 선언’을 내걸고 포항시장 선거 출마를 공식 선언했다. 김 전 부지사는 29일 “위기에 빠진 포항을 다시 일으켜 세우고, 30년 뒤를 준비하는 미래도시로 전환하겠다”며 출마의 뜻을 밝혔다.

김 후보는 중장기 발전 전략으로 ‘포항 대전환 10대 프로젝트’를 제시했다. 핵심 공약으로는 포항·영천·영덕·청송을 연결하는 ‘뉴시티(메가시티)’ 구축을 통해 인구 100만 규모의 광역 경제권을 형성하고, 환태평양 국제 비즈니스 거점도시로 도약하겠다는 구상을 내놨다. 지역 갈등 해소를 위해 정치·기업·행정·시민이 참여하는 ‘포항지역상생특별위원회’ 출범도 약속했다.
또한 ‘포항도시개발공사’ 설립을 통해 구도심 공동화와 난개발 문제에 체계적으로 대응하고, 포스코 임원급 대외협력특별보좌역 신설을 통해 기업과 지역 간 협력 창구를 강화하겠다고 밝혔다. 이와 함께 포스텍 의학전문대학원 유치, 전천후 파크골프장 10만 평 조성, 종합교통관제센터와 문화예술센터 설립 등 생활 밀착형 공약도 제시했다.
서민경제 회복과 포스트 포스코 시대 대비 전략, 환동해 핵심 경제거점도시 육성, 지진 피해 복구와 안전도시 구축, 청년 정주 패키지 정책, 초고령사회 대응과 해양·철강 산업을 연계한 미래 전략 등도 주요 공약으로 포함됐다.
김 후보는 “말이 아닌 성과로 증명하는 시장이 되겠다”며 “4년 안에 시민의 삶 속에서 분명한 변화를 보여드리겠다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “공정하고 정의로운 경쟁을 통해 포항의 미래를 함께 만들어가자”고 경쟁 후보들에게 제안했다.
