세종특별자치시가 설 명절을 앞두고 전통시장 이용 활성화와 귀성객 편의를 위해 오는 2월 2일부터 18일까지 17일 동안 전통시장 인근 불법 주정차 단속을 한시적으로 완화한다.
단속 유예가 적용되는 구역은 조치원읍 세종전통시장 일대로, 이용객들은 기존 20분이던 주정차 허용 시간을 최대 2시간까지 이용할 수 있다. 이번 조치는 명절 기간 전통시장 이용을 장려하고 지역 상권에 활력을 불어넣기 위한 취지다.
구체적인 단속유예 구간은 슈퍼크리스피 세종조치원역점(옛 올포유)에서 시민회관 네거리까지 약 220m 구간과 ,감초당약국에서 옛 효성세종병원까지 360m 구간이다.
다만 세종시는 소방시설 주변, 교차로 모퉁이, 버스정류소, 횡단보도, 어린이보호구역, 인도 등에 주정차한 차량은 여전히 단속 대상이라고 밝혔다.
이들 6대 불법 주정차 금지구역은 안전사고 위험이 높은 만큼 설 연휴에도 예외 없이 단속을 강화한다는 방침이다.
세종시 관계자는 “전통시장 이용객과 귀성객들의 불편을 줄이기 위한 조치인 만큼 시민 여러분의 안전운전과 질서 있는 주차 협조를 부탁드린다”며 “세종전통시장 주차장과 조치원 주차타워, 고용복지플러스센터 주차장, 전의·부강·금남 대평 전통시장 주차장 등 인근 공영주차장도 적극 활용해달라”고 당부했다.
