이날 간담회는 최근 중앙정부가 팔당수계 주민들을 위한 지원 사업비를 삭감한 데 따른 대응책을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다. 특수협 관계자는 "지난 50여 년간 수도권 식수원 보호라는 명목하에 각종 중첩 규제를 감내해 온 주민들에게 예산 삭감은 씻을 수 없는 상실감과 분노를 안겨줬다"며 정부 차원의 실효성 있는 대책을 강력히 촉구했다.
