고양특례시가 지난달 30일 원당농협 본점에서 열린 '2026년 원당농협 정기총회'에 참석해 지역 농업 발전에 힘쓰는 농업인들을 격려했다.
이날 정기총회를 찾은 이동환 고양시장은 지역 농업 발전에 기여한 농업인과 관계자 3명에게 고양시장 표창을 수여하며 그간의 노고를 치하했다.
이 시장은 축사를 통해 "원당농협은 농업의 공익적 가치 확산에 앞장서고 있다"며 "1984년부터 현재까지 지역인재 육성을 위한 장학사업을 꾸준히 이어오는 등 사회공헌 활동에 앞장서 왔다"고 감사를 표했다.

이어 "농업의 안정적인 성장 환경 조성과 지속가능한 농업을 위해 함께 노력하겠다"고 약속했다.
올해 지역 농·축협 정기총회는 지난달 29일 일산농협을 시작으로 30일 원당농협에 이어 신도농협, 지도농협, 송포농협, 벽제농협, 한국화훼농협을 거쳐 오는 12일 고양축협에서 마지막 총회가 열릴 예정이다.
한편 고양시는 지역 농업의 발전과 농업인의 경영 안정을 위해 다양한 사업을 추진하고 있다.
농업생산기반시설 정비, 청년농업인 육성·지원, 외국인 계절근로자 확대, 스마트팜 ICT 융복합 기술 보급 및 시설 현대화, 고양시 특화 농산물 육성과 로컬푸드 직거래 체계 구축 등이 주요 사업이다.
시는 앞으로도 지속가능한 농업을 위한 지원을 이어갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
