이날 발대식에는 체력측정과 면접을 거쳐 선발된 31명의 산림재난대응 단원이 참석해 산림재난 없는 안전한 증평 실현을 위한 결의문 낭독과 구호 제창으로 각오를 다졌다.
산림재난대응단은 기존 산불·산사태·산림병해충 등 재난 유형별·시기별로 분산 운영되던 대응체계를 올해부터 통합 관리하는 핵심 조직으로, 재난 발생 시 여건에 따라 탄력적으로 조정·운영된다.
특히 봄철 산불조심기간(2월 2일~ 5월 15일) 산불 발생 시 즉시 현장에 투입돼 산불 종료 시까지 진화 활동을 수행하며, 산불 취약지 순찰과 불법소각행위 단속 등 예방 활동에도 집중할 계획이다.
