【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=POSTECH(포항공과대학교)은 지난 6일 교내 학부생 창업 프로그램인 ‘2025 UGRP(Undergraduate Group Research Program) 기술창업트랙’ 시상식을 열고, 1년간의 운영을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 밝혔다.

UGRP는 학부생이 주도적으로 연구 주제를 제안하고 프로젝트를 수행하는 POSTECH의 대표적인 학생 참여형 프로그램이다. 이 가운데 ‘기술창업트랙(Track 2)’은 혁신적인 기술과 아이디어를 보유한 학생들이 아이디어 발굴부터 사업화에 이르기까지 창업 전 과정을 직접 경험하며 기업가정신을 함양할 수 있도록 설계됐다.
이번 시상식에서 최우수상은 로봇 전시와 체험형 교육 콘텐츠를 결합한 프로젝트를 선보인 ‘로보에듀랩(기계공학과 손성락 외 3명)’ 팀이 차지했다. 해당 팀은 기술적 완성도는 물론 에듀테크 시장에서의 사업화 가능성을 높게 평가받았다.
이와 함께 AI 기반 스포츠 상황 판단 시스템을 활용한 해설 프로그램을 개발한 ‘AI 해설’ 팀과, 자연어와 코드 간 양방향 변환 기술(BINC)을 구현한 ‘코딩감자’ 팀이 우수상을 수상했다.
이번 기술창업트랙은 글로컬대학 사업 지원을 바탕으로 지난해 3월 참가팀 모집을 시작했으며, POSTECH 산업경영공학과 정덕종 교수의 창업 기초 강의와 카카오벤처스 김영무 심사역의 스타트업 투자 특강 등이 진행됐다.
또한 POSTECH 창업지원팀 소속 전담 PM(Project Manager)과 팀별 맞춤형 멘토링을 통해 학생들의 아이디어를 실질적인 비즈니스 모델로 발전시키는 과정을 지원했다.
이정수 POSTECH 산학처장은 “UGRP 기술창업트랙은 학생들이 강의실에서 배운 공학적 지식을 실제 창업 현장에 적용해 볼 수 있는 소중한 기회”라며 “앞으로도 예비 창업가들이 실패를 두려워하지 않고 도전하며 성장할 수 있도록 창업 교육과 지원을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 POSTECH은 UGRP를 통해 매년 우수한 학부생 연구 및 창업팀을 발굴하고 있으며, 수상팀에게는 상금과 함께 교내외 창업 지원 프로그램과 연계된 후속 지원이 제공될 예정이다.

POSTECH Successfully Concludes Undergraduate Technology Entrepreneurship Program, "2025 UGRP Technology Entrepreneurship Track"
POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) held an awards ceremony on the 6th for its "2025 UGRP (Undergraduate Group Research Program) Technology Entrepreneurship Track," an on-campus undergraduate entrepreneurship program, and announced the successful conclusion of its first year of operation.

The grand prize went to the "RoboEduLab" team (Son Seong-rak and three others from the Department of Mechanical Engineering), which presented a project that combined a robot exhibition with experiential educational content. The team was highly praised for its technical excellence and commercialization potential in the edutech market.
Additionally, the "AI Commentary" team, which developed a commentary program utilizing an AI-based sports situation judgment system, and the "Coding Potato" team, which implemented a two-way natural language-to-code conversion technology (BINC), received Excellence Awards.
This Technology Entrepreneurship Track, supported by the Glocal University project, began recruiting participants in March of last year. The program included a lecture on entrepreneurship fundamentals by Professor Jeong Deok-jong of the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering at POSTECH, and a special lecture on startup investment by Kim Young-moo, an auditor at Kakao Ventures.
Furthermore, a dedicated Project Manager (PM) from the POSTECH Entrepreneurship Support Team and customized mentoring for each team supported the development of students' ideas into practical business models.
Lee Jeong-soo, Dean of the POSTECH Academic Affairs and Industry Division, stated, "The UGRP Technology Entrepreneurship Track is a valuable opportunity for students to apply the engineering knowledge they learned in the classroom to real-world startups. We will continue to expand our entrepreneurship education and support so that aspiring entrepreneurs can take on challenges without fear of failure and grow."
Meanwhile, POSTECH annually discovers outstanding undergraduate research and entrepreneurship teams through the UGRP, and the winning teams will be provided with prize money and follow-up support linked to on- and off-campus entrepreneurship support programs.
