한설 예비역 장군은 이 칼럼에서 “위기는 다가오는데 한국은 아무것도 대응할 준비를 하지 못하고 있다. 이재명은 지금 한국 앞으로 다가오는 위기의 본질을 제대로 잘 파악하지 못하고 있는 것 같다. 현재 한국이 직면하고 있는 가장 심각한 위기는 비효율적 국가운영이라는 내부적 요인이라기보다는 외부에서 다가오는 지정학적 성격을 지니고 있다. 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 위기의 본질을 제대로 파악하고 대응해야 한다”고 전제하고 “지금 이재명은 다가오는 위기의 본질과 상관없이 자신이 잘하는 것을 하려는 것 같다. 이재명이 지방을 돌아다니면서 국정을 살피는 것은 그동안 한국의 대통령들이 하지 못했던 것들이다. 아마도 한참 이전에 그러니까 문재인 이전에 이재명이 대통령이 되었다면 상당히 효과적으로 국가발전에 기여했지 않을까 생각한다. 그러나 지금은 그런 평시의 상황이 아니다. 국제정세가 요동을 치고 있다. 이런 상황에서 이재명은 한국이 직면한 위기의 본질을 애써 회피하고 있는 것이다. 우리가 직면하고 있는 이런 지정학적 측면에서 오는 도전을 극복하려면, 지정학적인 사고방식으로 접근해야 한다”고 지적했다.
