<브레이크뉴스 태백 = 김일웅 기자> ‘석탄의 도시’에서 ‘재생에너지의 메카’로 변모 중인 태백시가 공공시설과 풍력발전 기업의 협력을 통해 ESG 경영 확산에 나선다.
태백시시설관리공단은 지난 9일 공단 이사장실에서 태백가덕산풍력발전㈜와 ‘재생에너지 기반 지역상생 및 지속가능한 ESG 경영 확산을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 지역 내 풍력·태양광 등 신재생에너지의 역할이 중요해짐에 따라, 양 기관이 보유한 자원을 공유하고 협력 체계를 구축해 지역 사회에 친환경 가치를 뿌리내리기 위해 마련됐다.
협약에 따라 두 기관은 ▲재생에너지 인식 개선을 위한 홍보·교육 프로그램 공동 기획 ▲주민 참여형 사회공헌 활동 및 취약계층 지원 ▲온실가스 감축 활동 등 탄소중립 실천 분야에서 전방위적인 협력을 약속했다.
특히 공단이 운영하는 체육·관광 시설을 활용해 시민들에게 재생에너지의 중요성을 알리는 다양한 캠페인과 견학 프로그램을 운영할 계획이다.
남궁증 이사장은 “공단의 공영시설 인프라와 가덕산풍력발전의 전문성을 결합해 지역 상생의 새로운 모델을 만들겠다”며 “시민들이 체감할 수 있는 친환경 경영을 적극 실천하겠다”고 말했다.
한기덕 대표이사 또한 “태백시민의 생활과 밀접한 시설관리공단과의 협력을 통해 재생에너지의 가치를 알리고, 지역 경제 활성화에 기여할 수 있도록 책임을 다하겠다”고 화답했다.
