전북특별자치도가 '제3 금융중심지' 지정을 공식 신청한 이후 글로벌 금융기관과 전략적 연대에 행정력을 모으고 있는 가운데 12일 글로벌 대형 운용사 가운데 하나인 '뉴욕멜론은행(BNY)' 한국대표가 전북도청을 방문했다.
BNY 신임 서봉균 한국대표는 이날 김관영 도지사를 만나 금융산업 발전 방안과 글로벌 협력 확대 방안을 논의했다.
이번 방문에는 전임 박현주 한국대표와 장철복 전주사무소장과 전북자치도 김인태 기업유치지원실장이 배석했으며 한국대표 이ㆍ취임을 계기로 양 기관의 협력관계를 공고하게 다지기 위해 마련됐다.
김관영 도지사는 "전북은 국민연금공단을 중심으로 자산운용 특화 금융생태계를 체계적으로 구축해 나가고 있다"며 "약 59조 달러 규모의 수탁자산을 운용하며 글로벌 수탁ㆍ자산관리 분야를 선도하는 BNY와 지속적인 협력은 전북이 국제적 위상을 갖춘 글로벌 금융도시로 도약하는 데 핵심 동력이 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
