가평군은 지난 12일 가평군장애인복지관 주관으로 ‘설맞이 명절 음식 나눔 행사’를 개최하고, 관내 재가장애인 85가정을 직접 찾아 명절 음식을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 명절 기간 자칫 소외되기 쉬운 재가장애인들의 경제적 부담을 덜어주고, 정서적 고립감을 해소하기 위해 기획됐다. 이날 현장에는 서태원 가평군수를 비롯해 가평군생활개선회, 가평의용소방대, 청평지역 개인봉사자 등 50여 명의 봉사자가 팔을 걷어붙였다.

봉사자들은 이른 아침부터 불고기, 꼬지전, 동그랑땡, 만두, 떡 등 대표적인 명절 음식을 정성껏 조리하고 포장했다. 이후 각 가정을 직접 방문해 음식을 전달하며 안부를 묻는 등 명절의 정을 나눴다.
서태원 가평군수는 현장에서 봉사자들을 격려하며 “명절이 누군가에게는 외로운 시간이 되지 않도록, 이웃을 살피는 여러분의 손길이 지역사회를 지탱하는 힘”이라며 “장애인과 비장애인이 함께 어우러져 살아가는 가평을 만들기 위해 현장 중심의 복지 행정을 펼치겠다”고 말했다.
