【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군 평생학습센터가 군민 삶의 질 향상을 위한 독서문화 진흥과 평생학습 기반 확대에 박차를 가하고 있다.
올해로 9회를 맞이한 ‘진천의 책’ 사업은 군민이 직접 함께 읽을 책을 선정하고, 함께 읽고·쓰고·토론하며 책으로 소통하는 군 대표 독서 프로젝트다.
군은 올해 진천의 책 선정을 위한 주민 선호도 조사를 지난 1월 실시했으며 조사 결과를 바탕으로 도서관 운영위원회 심의를 거쳐 최종 도서를 확정할 예정이다.
이후 진천의 책 선포식을 시작으로 작가와의 만남, 독서 릴레이, 독서토론회, 전국 글쓰기 공모전 등을 개최해 군민의 독서 감성 함양과 지역 독서문화 진흥에 앞장설 계획이다.
지역 곳곳에 위치한 공립 작은도서관을 중심으로 특성화 사업도 본격 추진한다.
생생덕산·통통문백·화풍이월·책마을초평 작은도서관에서 책 축제 개최와 특성화 자료 확충 등 차별화된 프로그램을 운영해, 군민 누구나 15분 생활권 내에서 이용 가능한 복합문화공간으로 꾸민다.
이를 통해 도서관이 단순한 독서 공간을 넘어, 생활 속 맞춤형 정보를 제공하고 주민이 자연스럽게 모이고 소통하는 지역 밀착형 문화거점으로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.
군은 2024년 11월부터 충북혁신도시 복합혁신센터 광장에 ‘생거진천 스마트도서관’을 설치·운영하고 있다.
스마트도서관은 주민 생활권 가까이에서 24시간 무인으로 도서를 대출·반납할 수 있는 자동화 시스템을 갖춘 비대면 도서관이다.
베스트셀러와 신간도서 등 460여 권을 비치해 시간 제약 없이 이용할 수 있어 주민 만족도가 높다.
운영 이후 스마트도서관은 지역 주민의 배움과 여가, 독서가 어우러지는 생활문화 지원시설로 자리 잡으며 생활밀착형 독서 기반 구축에 기여하고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.
지난해 12월에는 생거진천 평생학습관을 개관했다.
도시재생어울림센터 3·4층에 조성된 평생학습관에는 성인문해교육 학력인정과정인 ‘글샘학교’ 교실을 비롯해 요가, 댄스, 체조, 음악, 연극 등 스포츠·예술 프로그램 운영이 가능한 다목적 프로그램실 등 총 8개의 학습실을 마련했다.
진천읍 내 정기강좌 운영과 다양한 평생학습 프로그램 개설을 통해, 인근 주민들이 가까운 곳에서 배우고 소통하며 함께 성장할 수 있는 복합문화·평생교육 공간으로 자리매김할 전망이다.
한미경 평생학습센터 소장은 “나이와 계층, 시간과 공간의 제약을 넘어 누구나 쉽게 책을 접하고 배우며 소통할 수 있도록 ‘함께 읽고, 함께 배우는 생거진천’ 실현에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
