[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 함안군은 지역의 역사성과 정체성을 담은 새로운 마스코트 ‘함토리’를 선보이고, 30여 년 만에 군 상징물을 새롭게 단장했다고 20일 밝혔다.
군은 1997년 상표등록 후 사용해 온 기존 ‘우돌이’ 캐릭터가 오랜 시간이 지나 시대 변화와 디지털 홍보 환경에 맞지 않고 활용성이 부족하다는 의견이 제기돼 2025년부터 마스코트 변경을 추진해 왔다.
새롭게 선보인 함안군 마스코트 ‘함토리’는 세계유산인 함안 말이산고분군 45호분에서 출토된 사슴모양 뿔잔을 본떠 만든 사슴 캐릭터다.
이는 고대 아라가야 시대 사슴이 지닌 신성성과 재생의 의미를 현대적으로 재해석한 지역 상징물이다.
해마다 새롭게 돋아나는 사슴의 뿔처럼 고난과 역경을 극복하고 다시 일어서는 희망과 회복의 뜻을 담았다.
앞으로 ‘함토리’는 함안의 역사와 현재, 미래를 잇는 군의 대표 이미지로 활용될 예정이다.
함안군은 새 마스코트 선정에 따라 최근 각 부서와 읍면에 ‘함토리’의 적극적인 활용을 당부했다.
앞으로 홍보물 제작을 비롯해 관광객이 많이 찾는 주요 거점에 캐릭터 조형물을 설치하고, 다양한 동작과 표정을 활용한 미디어 및 영상 홍보 등 여러 분야에 활용할 계획이다.
