[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도는 20일 오후 도청 대회의실에서 ‘2025년도 평화통일 기반조성 유공자 포상 전수식’을 개최했다. 이번 행사는 현장에서 평화통일의 당위성을 알리고 실천적 활동을 펼쳐온 민주평화통일자문회의(이하 민주평통) 자문위원과 공직자들의 헌신을 기리기 위해 마련됐다.
전수식에서는 지난해 민주평화통일 기반 조성에 기여한 공로로 민주평화통일자문회의 경남지역회의 밀양시협의회 김영진 회장이 국민훈장 동백장을, 창원시협의회 서순련 상임위원이 국민훈장 목련장을 각각 받았다.
민주평통 의장(대통령) 표창 공무원 부문에서는 밀양시청 박상우 주무관과 창녕군청 하승호 주무관이 수상했다. 단체 부문에서는 거창군협의회와 합천군협의회는 평화통일 공감대 형성과 통일 관련 활동 공로를 인정받아 민주평통 의장(대통령) 표창을 받았다.
이 외에도 자문위원 34명이 대통령 표창을, 22명이 경남도지사 표창을 받는 등 총 200여 명의 관계자가 참석해 경남의 통일 역량을 대내외에 과시했다.
박완수 도지사는 축사에서 지역 민주평통 자문위원들에게 새해 인사를 전한 뒤 “지난 한 해 어려운 여건 속에서도 지역 발전과 한반도 평화통일을 위해 힘써주신 데 감사드린다”며 “오늘 수상하시는 분들께 진심으로 축하드린다. 열정적으로 활동해 주신 데 대한 보답이라고 생각한다”고 말했다.
이어 박 지사는 “정부는 한반도의 지속 가능한 평화와 공존을 위해 갈등과 대결보다는 공존과 평화를 위한 노력을 이어가고 있다”면서도 “북한의 방사포 추가 배치와 미사일 발사 실험 등 평화를 위협하는 행동이 지속되는 점은 우려스럽다”고 밝혔다.
또 “미·중 간 패권 경쟁과 러시아·유럽 갈등 등 국제 환경이 녹록지 않은 만큼 우리 사회가 더욱 단합해야 한다”며 “올해도 평화통일을 위한 자문위원들의 열정과 노력이 계속돼야 하고, 경남 발전과 사회통합을 위한 노력에도 한마음으로 힘을 모아 달라”고 당부했다.
한편, 민주평화통일자문회의는 대통령 직속 통일정책 자문기구로, 국민의 통일 의지를 모으고 평화통일 기반을 다지기 위한 다양한 활동을 추진하고 있다. 경남지역회의는 현재 제22기 자문위원 총 1,362명(도의원 58명·시군의원 229명·직능대표 1,075명)이 활동 중이다.
