【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=김승수 국회의원(국민의힘·대구 북구을)이 수도권을 제외한 지역에서 열리는 e스포츠 대회 운영비에 대한 법인세 공제 특례의 일몰 연장을 추진한다.
김 의원은 19일, 전문 e스포츠대회를 지방에서 개최하는 법인이 대통령령으로 정한 운영비의 10%를 해당 연도 법인세에서 공제받을 수 있도록 한 현행 특례의 적용기한을 연장하는 ‘조세특례제한법 일부 개정안’을 대표 발의했다. 이번 특례는 올해 말 종료될 예정이었다.
이번 개정안에는 지역 e스포츠대회 유치를 위한 최소한의 세제 인센티브를 유지해 지방의 e스포츠 생태계가 지속될 수 있도록 하자는 취지가 담겼다.
지역 대회 유치가 선수와 운영 인력 양성은 물론 숙박, 관광, 외식 등 관련 산업을 활성화하는 데도 도움이 될 것이라는 판단에서다.
김 의원은 “전 세계가 e스포츠 주도권 경쟁에 뛰어든 상황에서, 우리나라가 종주국으로서의 위상을 지키려면 정부 차원의 지원이 필요하다”며 “특히 지역에서 열리는 대회가 안정적으로 개최될 수 있도록 제도적 뒷받침도 강화해야 한다”고 강조했다.
문화체육관광위원회 소속인 김 의원은 그동안 게임정책포럼 공동대표로 활동하며 각종 지역 리그 토론회 등에서 e스포츠 저변 확대의 필요성을 꾸준히 제기해 왔다. 이번 법안 역시 단발성 이벤트 지원에서 벗어나 지역 중심의 산업 생태계 조성을 목표로 한다는 설명이다.
김 의원은 “세제 특례가 실질적으로 지역 대회 확대와 인재 육성으로 이어질 수 있도록 국회 논의 과정에서 보완책을 적극 제시하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Rep. Kim, a member of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee, has consistently advocated for the expansion of esports through various regional league forums as co-chair of the Game Policy Forum. He explained that this bill aims to move beyond supporting one-off events and foster a regionally centered industrial ecosystem.
Rep. Kim stated, "I will actively propose supplementary measures during the National Assembly deliberations to ensure that tax incentives lead to the expansion of regional competitions and the development of talent."
